As we are moving into a new year, I thought we should start a new thread. Everyone is welcome to join who is following the SW plan.

I'm Groovee. Joined my local group in January 2017. Had lost a stone at that point in 6 months. Then took 14 months to lose 4.5st and have been at target since March 2018. I've bumbled my way through target since then. Still attend group regularly as I need the accountability. I'm still learning new things all the time.

Look forward to chatting. As I'm at the top of my target, I want to lose at least 5lb in by February.

Re breakfast - I've got into a terrible habit of skipping it. Lethal for me. So, I'm going to go for overnight oats this week, with fat free yoghurt, frozen fruit etc. I said to my husband I need an hour or so a week to plan and prep for the week, or it all just flies out the window for me. I couldn't believe it yesterday when I saw I was heavier than my post natal weight 3.5 years ago!! I'm so embarrassed and hate going anywhere at the moment for fear of seeing people I haven't for ages, as they will be horrified!! Mum's recently bought me that Punch of Nom book and offered to buy me new trainers for Christmas. Hint hint!!! Xx

mollibu · 06/01/2020 13:15

What's everyone having for lunch today?

I'm having chicken in Cajun seasoning, spicy Mexican rice (2 syns) and orange peppers.

I absolutely suck at making rice so have to use my syns on it Blushhas anyone got any tips for cooking rice?

MotherOfLittlePeople · 06/01/2020 13:44

Weigh day for me on a Monday morning. Lost 2.5lbs, slimmer of the week and only 2lb to go now for my club 10 and my 1 and a half stone award. Hoping to achieve that next Monday x

MotherOfLittlePeople · 06/01/2020 13:45

@mollibu buy the boil in the bag? That's what I have to do otherwise I can't make it

Groovee · 06/01/2020 14:50

Well done Mother

I definitely take time to plan Row, definitely helps me.

Well done Mother on your loss.

Row, I find planning helps me.

Molli I had soup for lunch. I find batsmati rice easiest to cook.

@mollibu I buy the frozen bags of rice they are free and take 3 mins in the microwave.

Hello, I started SW end of November then lost 9.5lb before Christmas, gained 3.5lb over Christmas (usually gain over 7lbs each December, so big improvement!) and had lost 3lb of that at yesterday's weigh in.
Just had brunch - my HE B of two slices of small brown bread toasted, with a fried egg, three bacon medallions and tinned cherry tomatoes (best tinned tomatoes ever!). Followed by a Fat Free Greek style cherry yogurt (bought on a whim when I momentarily got caught up in low fat and then remembered I hate sweeteners so will be going back to plain yogurt and fruit!).

I try to avoid processed foods and use at least half my SYNS for actual food, so oil, butter, full fat dairy and fat on meats. Because I don't play to eat low fat foods for life, I need a way of training myself to eat them in moderation and with a LOT of veg, so SW is perfect for that. There's no point me buying 'diet' food unless I like it and want to eat it forever. For me, SW is just a structure for the diet I know I should be eating, ie lots of veg, some fruit, mostly lean protein and moderate healthy fats, with a few treats.

Gammeldragz · 08/01/2020 18:59

Did I kill the thread? Oops... Well, I shall carry on!

Breakfast/snack - apple
Brunch - bacon, cheese spread and lettuce sandwich (HEB and HEA)
Dinner - bolognese on a bed of baby leaf salad with 1.5 slices garlic bread and cheese on top (HEA).

Will probably have another apple later. Must drink more water.

Halfstonehomerun · 08/01/2020 22:04

Weigh in today and half a pound off. First weigh in for three weeks so I’m pleased as I had no idea how much I’d gained or lost over Christmas.

So I have three pounds to go to hit my target of three stone off in total (joined in June 2018).

Groovee · 08/01/2020 22:15

I've been awol due to a sickness bug. Hadn't had one for 12 years. Forgot how bad they can be. On the mend now but knackered. My eating was shit as I went for things like dry crackers to see if I could keep it down. Think tomorrow will be back on plan as much as I can. There's a few things I feel I can't stomach yet.

Didn't get to weigh in so will weigh in next week as I was in target at last weigh in x

Had my first weigh in on Monday and lost 7 1/2 lbs. very pleased with that!!

Gammeldragz · 08/01/2020 23:47

Well done Halfstonehomerun and Grumblina.
Hope you're feeling better soon Groovee.

RPow1980 · 09/01/2020 20:24

I've had an OK week, though my tummy has been noisy 24/7 and I've felt gassy (sorry TMI!). Guessing it's cos of the fact I haven't had any shit food all week and my body's wondering what's going on! Weigh in on Saturday morning. Well done to those who've had losses this week xx

Groovee · 09/01/2020 21:22

I'm feeling so much better.

Have had fruit for breakfast.

Chicken stir fry with wholewheat rice noodles for lunch.

Then a chicken fajita rice bowl for tea.

Smaller portions than normal but I need to just take it easy. Have honestly not been so ill in 11 years. Glad to be better.

Had hoped to get back to Burlesque tonight but it wasn't to be.

Weighed in last night and lost 3lbs. Pleased as I’ve not followed it much this week due to my 7 week old keeping me up all night. Tried to make better choices though which seems to have helped. Well done everyone on their losses

Wineislifex · 10/01/2020 12:12

My first weigh in is tomorrow! I always used to do Atkins to lose any weight I needed but joined SW as got more than usual to lose (baby weight!) I’m enjoying it so far tho, made the SW fish fingers, chips and beans the other night which felt really naughty! But other than that I’ve been keeping it simple lean meats and lots of veg!

Lightsabre · 10/01/2020 14:05

Can I join please? Started for the first time at SW on Tuesday night.
Day 1 (Weds) went ok but used the full 15 syns on wine and a bit of butter!
Day 2 (Thurs) not so good - used 17!syns as I'd forgotten that fresh pasta isn't 'free' - doh!
Today, just had a 'free' lunch of last nights pasta bolognaise with dried pasta.

Well done to those who've lost. Can I ask do you watch your portion sizes? It seems too good to be true to be having a large plate of pasta and bolognaise! I don't think I've lost anything so far either according to my scales so might be doing something wrong?

Halfstonehomerun · 10/01/2020 16:05

Well done on all the losses so far! @Groovee your pictures are inspirational! I hope you feel all well again soon.

@Lightsabre yes I do now watch my portion size. I used to have the same size portion as my partner and I really don’t need too. The 1/3 speed food rule is new to me (I’ve done SW pre-children) and it did work for me as a way of reducing portion size. If I do follow the rule then I always plate up the speed first too! Now I don’t always follow the 1/3 rule as it’s not always convenient but I do plate up at least 1/3 less than I used to. My consultant will say that there is an element of portion control to SW too.

Groovee · 10/01/2020 16:32

I find this a good visual for my portions x

Thanks Groovee, that's where I'm going wrong I think. Big portions of spaghetti bol with lots of veg in the sauce. Will need to plate the speed food first.

OrianaBanana · 11/01/2020 09:34

That’s a good visual thanks Groovee!

Lost 5lbs today - but it was my first week, I’m doing Veganuary, started exercising again, and I’m pretty fat. Next week will be the test! Smile

mollibu · 11/01/2020 10:46

Lost 6lb this morning! Very happy x

RPow1980 · 11/01/2020 12:10

First weighing this morning, lost 5.5lb, really chuffed xx

Wineislifex · 11/01/2020 14:48

Well done! I had my first one and lost 5lb too!
