Site continually crashing and reloading

I am so utterly sick of this, it’s been going on for months but now it’s even worse, in the space of 15 minutes the site has crashed and reloaded 3 times, each time I have lost my post I was typing, it’s infuriating, I am on an iPad using safari. This has been highlighted by numerous posters time and time again and nothing changes.

Same for me. Site does not work on chrome or safari. Ads just crash it continuously.
this has been going on for over a year.

ILoveDuckDuckGo · 04/08/2026 11:24

@Concretejungle1 they know. It is the business model of targeted ads which needs to read your history and leave some cookies on your device. There is no solution from MNHQ.
try DuckDuckGo m, it is your solution

NewAgeNewMe · 04/08/2026 14:29

I’ve been using DuckDuckGo for a while as got so fed up with it. No issues since.

ILoveDuckDuckGo · 04/08/2026 15:40

@NewAgeNewMe I know!!! And it is great to watch YouTube videos as well without ANY ad.

NewAgeNewMe · 04/08/2026 15:48

Exactly!!
great user name 😂😍

I tried DuckDuckGo on my iPad and it was still as bad, it seems to crash the whole of Safari still and I have to close Safari several times to even load a page, it then stops any other website loading until I close Safari and open it again. On the iMac though which is also Safari there are absolutely no problems at all so I just use that still. Does mean I don't spend a lot of time needlessly MNing though so perhaps it is meant to be.

ILoveDuckDuckGo · 05/08/2026 08:30

@RedRiverShore6 You mention using DuckDuckGo and safari crashing, so you are probably still browsing MN on Safari or still have all the cookies and trackers active.
clear Safari history then try again on DDG . Use Safari for everything except MN.

There’s DuckDuckGo which is a search engine like Google which you can use on Safari, then there’s DuckDuckGo which is an app you download which is a browser that you can use MN on. Are you using the one that is a browser and still finding MN crashes?

RedRiverShore6 · 05/08/2026 17:17

Thanks @ILoveDuckDuckGo and @noblegiraffe , I have now cleared the MN data from my iPad Safari and downloaded the DuckDuckGo app and re-signed in and it is ok on that app so I won't use it on Safari on the iPad anymore, just the DuckDuckGo app. All I had originally done was change the search engine from Google to DDG which wasn't enough.

ILoveDuckDuckGo · 06/08/2026 06:24

DuckDuckGo is a browser. You can use it on the phone, iPad, computer, …. It is like explorer, chrome, firefox, safari …. You open it when you want to go on MN, youtube or others. Simple to download on any device.

The whole point of DDG is you don’t need to use Safari at all. Just use the DDG app and log onto MN.

NewAgeNewMe · 06/08/2026 08:04

I use the DDG app.

Also wanted to add, don’t just clear the MN data. An example of who is attempting to access your computer and history on MN right now:

Hi all,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you here. We completely understand how frustrating this has been, and we're continuing to investigate the issues you're reporting.

We're testing a number of fixes behind the scenes to make sure we get to the root cause. We'll update this thread as soon as we have anything meaningful to share.

We're really sorry for the ongoing disruption, and we appreciate everyone who's taken the time to report what they're seeing and bear with us while we work through it.

JaneJeffer · 06/08/2026 17:31

@AmeliaPMumsnet everybody knows the root cause is too many ads

Poinlessss · 06/08/2026 18:04

Yes and it’s been over a year now

RedRiverShore6 · 15/08/2026 23:12

I have been using DDG app now for a week or two and it's all working but there is one really weird thing about it, I can't access my account, it's not there, it should be next to the square with the pen in it at the top right but it's not, I have to go to Safari if I want to name change or do stuff like that. Is this just me or anyone else got this.

RedRiverShore6 · 16/08/2026 07:40

ILoveDuckDuckGo · 16/08/2026 06:32

@RedRiverShore6 I have explained several times how to get to account and settings. Look here https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/site_stuff/5538998-settingsaccount-icon-disappears

Thank very much, I have found it now following your instructions.
