Site continually crashing and reloading

I am so utterly sick of this, it’s been going on for months but now it’s even worse, in the space of 15 minutes the site has crashed and reloaded 3 times, each time I have lost my post I was typing, it’s infuriating, I am on an iPad using safari. This has been highlighted by numerous posters time and time again and nothing changes.

This is still happening - virtually every time I open a thread. The site is becoming pretty much unuseable.

I can only use MN on my iPad. Unusable on my iPhone.

It hasn't improved and is still a problem.

Nobody from MN HQ has commented for weeks and weeks. Back on 23rd Dec they said they were still working on it, but didn't yet know what was causing the problems. Here we are on 3rd March with no improvement and no update.

@BunfightBetty still the same here, constant reloading freezing etc I’m on iPad the never ending we are looking into it continues.

500 error on phone this morning. Now on tablet but back on phone.

It's particularly bad on the iPad, I don't MN on a phone so can't comment on that. It does seem ok on an iMac though.

It’s unusable on my phone and just about ok on iPad but not great. Maybe want to drive MN into the ground @BeckyAMumsnet @HebeMumsnet @LilyMumsnet can we have an update please.

Agree RedRiver think most of us are on iPads anyone have adverts in a Dutch or German the big adverts on the right hand of the screen?

If you have a video player opening when this happens, you can close it and that should help the issue. We're still running tests though, and will update here when we have any news.

Honestly is that the best response after all these months? How long do you have to run tests? I reported this issue on the 20/11/2026 and that wasn’t when the problem started, it was long before, so you have been looking into this issue for almost 4 months and all we get is close the video player? Unbelievable.

Thank-you @HebeMumsnet but this doesn't solve the problem at all, as I don't have a video player going when I'm attempting to use the site on iPhone. The problems persist, nonetheless.

I'm somewhat surprised to hear you are still looking into this, given the time that has elapsed since you were informed of the issues.

Can you tell us what date the management team at MN HQ have fixed to have this solved by?

No I haven't got a flipping video player open. FFS.
In fact I often swipe every app shut and close tabs have open so only mumsnet is open... and it's still shit.

I suspect it's the myriad of advertising that's crashing the site. The daily mail has the same problem apparently even if you pay their subscription

It’s definitely since the ads played a video rather than just popped up. The advice originally from MNHQ was click on the cross on the corner 😆 some of the videos didn’t even have one!

Yes it’s all since the pop up video. The cross isn’t that accessible if there even is one.

I propose an experiment. Pause the pop up videos and see if that improves things.

I don't have a video running so can't close anything.

But I do lose posts I'm in the middle of typing up.

I do still sometimes have the message box with the text still in it even after posting.

If I leave a thread open, with a bookmark on the last post, and I come back it is NEVER at the last read post and even if I refresh the thread it still doesn't return me to the bookmarked post. Why??

I’m trialling the menu bar disappearing to give more screen space to read threads. I like the extra space. But it’s quite laggy and doesn’t reappear fast enough.

unrelated to that. I also find that I’m reading and scrolling and unbidden the page goes back to the top. Very frustrating.

Just had this now when I clicked show quote history (fine) then I did hide quote history. And it had to re load.
