Ads covering whole page.

I've attached a picture.
The advert comes up, covers the whole page and you have to click off the page to remove it.
I've had to go off this page three times to write this.
The adverts like the coop one that cover most of the page are annoying but this advert makes the site unusable.

Not sure how to add a screen recording but its really bad this morning. Its happening on various threads and sometimes just loading the active threads.

BeckyAMumsnet · 14/10/2025 10:08

Morning, everyone.
It’s been a tricky one to pin down, unfortunately, but we’ve now completely switched off the ad unit we think was causing the issue.
If you spot the problem happening again from this point onwards, please do let us know - it’ll really help us narrow things down and get it properly sorted.
Thanks so much for your patience, and we’re really sorry for the inconvenience.

Efacsen · 14/10/2025 10:09

Only had this a couple of times yesterday

Now it's cnstant on every thread plus Active and I'm watching

It's not switched off for me - appeared almost instantly after your post

Still there just as bad as ever

It's for something called Arden

Still happening.

Amblealongside · 14/10/2025 10:25

It's still happening for me.

Amblealongside · 14/10/2025 10:27

It says 'scalable' and 'execution looks like in action'

It's happening with more frequency this morning. Making the site impossible to use, it took about 12 clicks off then back on to be able to type this as it pops up randomly and blocks the whole page.

"Family woodland walks in" in big font above the white screen

SpudsAndCarrots · 14/10/2025 10:40

And another saying faster smarter scalable

SpudsAndCarrots · 14/10/2025 10:43

Another 'walks in Wales across the"

Seeline · 14/10/2025 10:46

@BeckyAMumsnet If anything it's worse than ever this morning!!

Whatever was done, has had no benefit at all.

I seem to be OK on my laptop, but MN is just unusable on my Android phone at the moment.

Tiddlywinkly · 14/10/2025 10:48

Still happening

BatshitCrazyWoman · 14/10/2025 11:01

It's really bad this morning, it's happening right now as I type this - can't see a thing!

ILikeDungs · 14/10/2025 11:14

I have just scrolled for about five minutes and it did not recur. Not definitive but earlier I would get the blank page within seconds.

Enko · 14/10/2025 11:16

Also got this waited it out for 2 minutes to see if it would disapear but no

Yep, it’s really bad this morning. It’s happening every couple of minutes. The site is basically unusable at this point. I’m going to have to do my ironing instead with I am very unhappy about.

Bumpinthenight · 14/10/2025 11:36

Still happening for me too.

I'm getting them repeatedly for different things. Mostly blank except for a headline about things like a cycle holiday.

You can either pay for premium, and hand over your data to a third party;

Or use a FREE ad-removing browser app for MN such as DuckDuckGo. This is what I’m using after a recommendation on MN (ironically!) and it has also served to reduce the godawful phone overheating, freezing and battery drainage that was accompanying the explosion of shit adverts and poor coding of advertising space.

Interesting. Thanks.

Still happening. How can I send you a screen recording please? Email? What address?

Efacsen · 14/10/2025 12:25

Seems to have stopped now - guess we'll see for how long as it's been a recurrent issue since last year

CaptainMyCaptain · 14/10/2025 12:31

I'm now using Duck Duck Go as suggested. Can anyone tell me if I import all my passwords from Google will they be lost from Google? I'd like to hedge my bets for a bit.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 14/10/2025 12:41

It’s just started happening for me today.

I’m a web dev who manages ads on sites, and honestly MN, whoever you have managing your ads needs to be sacked. You’ve had years of blatant incompetence at this point.

LarryIsMyRomanEmpire · 14/10/2025 12:42

Still happening here.
