Ads covering whole page.

I've attached a picture.
The advert comes up, covers the whole page and you have to click off the page to remove it.
I've had to go off this page three times to write this.
The adverts like the coop one that cover most of the page are annoying but this advert makes the site unusable.

Happened to me too. Yesterday and today. It's ironic that you can't even see what it's supposed to be an advert for. But it's constant. Took me about 4 attempts to read a handful of posts on this thread.

Wonderknicks · 14/10/2025 08:13

Still there, I did get a flash of what it was for this morning (Hammonds). Yesterday it was the execution thing, whatever that was.

HannahHamptonsGloves · 14/10/2025 08:14

I didn't have this yesterday but do this morning. Also on an android phone using chrome.

LillyPJ · 14/10/2025 08:16

Woke up thinking it would be fixed. The bloody advert immediately popped up and obscured the whole page.

awakeandasleep · 14/10/2025 08:22

It is worse today. The site is unusable.

LillyPJ · 14/10/2025 08:26

New one says 'Family woodland walks in Wales'. Another is something about 'Plans' and 'Execution'. (I'm assuming they're two different ones!)

FuzzyPuffling · 14/10/2025 08:26

Me too. It's rubbish.

saraclara · 14/10/2025 08:27

I give up. I've been here for five minutes and it's happened five times.

It's far worse this morning than it was yesterday.

saraclara · 14/10/2025 08:30

The Wales one is now coming up every few seconds. I was just looking at my previous post, not touching the screen, dvd it can't up. Went back to the thread, and it appeared again within seconds. Again, without me touching the screen

saraclara · 14/10/2025 08:32

Now these. Clearly the site is not usable today. Bye bye

Its terrible today, no idea what that add is something about execution?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 14/10/2025 08:43

Getting this too. The site is currently virtually unusable.

New one about 'Don't lose your freedom'. There seems to be more different ads happening today. Yesterday it was just one, I think.

CaptainMyCaptain · 14/10/2025 08:47

It seems OK so far when using my laptop but unusable using my Samsung phone.

I daren't start doing Mumsnet on my laptop. At least the inconvenience of typing on the phone limits the time I'm wasting on here! (And those ads are definitely curtailing my use too.)

carconcerns · 14/10/2025 08:56

I'm having the same issue. Plus the deeply irritating video ads that are always at the top, I assume logically these ads must attract the odd person but I'm wondering who, I refuse to look at them, they just get my back up. I stuck a post it note at the top of my phone the other day so I could read a thread In peace!

SisterMargaretta · 14/10/2025 08:59

Just came to search if this is happening to anyone else.

ILikeDungs · 14/10/2025 09:05

This is happening constantly, I was determined to get to the end of the thread so had it happen about ten times in a row. Only option is to leave the page and re-enter, with the possibility of the thing popping up again even before you get back to where you were reading! Infuriating.

TheAutumnCrow · 14/10/2025 09:07

You can either pay for premium, and hand over your data to a third party;

Or use a FREE ad-removing browser app for MN such as DuckDuckGo. This is what I’m using after a recommendation on MN (ironically!) and it has also served to reduce the godawful phone overheating, freezing and battery drainage that was accompanying the explosion of shit adverts and poor coding of advertising space.

Sunshine99999 · 14/10/2025 09:12

I read this thread earlier thinking gosh, this hasn’t happened to me and then lo, it just has. This site has become a joke, it’s increasingly unusable.

Edit - happened twice more whilst trying to edit a typo in this post!

noideawhat · 14/10/2025 09:13

This is getting ridiculous. I've been having the giant adverts constantly for the past 3 days. Keep having to leave a thread because I can't see it & then I lose it when I try to return. It really is making it unusable...

Thanks everyone for reporting this and for sending across all the info. We think we’ve identified the culprit and have flagged it with our ad partner, who are treating it as a priority. We're hoping it won’t take too long to get sorted.

We really appreciate your patience as we know how irritating this is and we’re very sorry for the hassle.

It's happening with more frequency this morning. Making the site impossible to use, it took about 12 clicks off then back on to be able to type this as it pops up randomly and blocks the whole page.

LillyPJ · 14/10/2025 09:39

@TheAutumnCrow Thanks for the reminder. I use the Brave browser to avoid ads on YouTube but didn't think to use it for MN.

saraclara · 14/10/2025 09:41

Every ten seconds now. I've timed it.
