I am being plagued by a Taylor Wimpey advert. It takes up the whole page and makes it impossible to scroll. Please get it removed or made smaller.

@JoMumsnet @BeckyAMumsnet is anything happening about these ads, do you know?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/12/2024 10:53

@Zonder stand by for what device/browser are you using, have you cleared cookies, can you send us the URL/a screenshot, etc, etc. Wink

Yup. But I've already given that info. So I'm ever hopeful 😀

BeckyAMumsnet · 16/12/2024 13:41

Thanks for continuing to flag these ads and we’re sorry for the inconvenience caused while they crawl all over your threads!

We’ve now identified several ads causing these issues and contacted our advertising partners to have them blocked. We’re also working to prevent similar issues in future by reviewing and restricting the use of expandable or intrusive ad formats on the site. This may take some time as we work through all the necessary adjustments with our partners.

If you encounter any other ads like this, it would be really helpful if you could provide the following details (seasoned site stuffers know the drill but just in case):
A screenshot of the advert.
The URL the advert redirects to (if clicked).
The device and browser you’re using.

This information allows us to quickly locate and block the offending ads. Thanks again for your patience and understanding. We really do appreciate you letting us know about this.

Came on to check and I can't even read the message because the advert came on straight away and there's no way to get rid of it.

Chrome on a laptop
Mostly kitchenaid.
I am not going to be getting URLs every time...

I seem to only get Kitchen Aid, they must love me and I hate them

NewName24 · 16/12/2024 17:53

Same as @TinyTear

Almost all KitchenAid, and I'm on a laptop and using Chrome.

I've suddenly started getting these now, same as this poster

The good news is that you've cured me if my MN addiction because the site is completely unusable.

MsDogLady · 17/12/2024 03:00

Still KitchenAid for me too, but a Ziploc also took over earlier today.

Zonder · 17/12/2024 06:32

Imagine if these KitchenAid ads were actually funded by Kenwood to put people off their rival. And someone in MNHQ has shares in Kenwood so is happy to let this continue so Kenwood sales go up.

Maybe I woke up too early 😆

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 17/12/2024 07:51

I’ve been getting them for the last few days, never before that. Safari on iPhone.
There have been a number but here’s one happening now www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CDHA7QA?aref=aroQKzuxfx&aaxitk=50ac557ffe72e22aa6e68a25fdfd9924&tag=ss-us-20&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&ref=dacx_dp_580424608320558310_592717947339094128

ClicketyClickPlusOne · 17/12/2024 10:24

Oh, come on @BeckyAMumsnet , there are hundreds of these ads taking up the whole screen and covering the text. Surely you have control over your own site rather than blaming it on pesky advertisers? How can external advertisers take over YOUR site? Disingenuous , or worrying it.

You don’t need us to keep screenshotting and reporting. Just spend 5 mins viewing g the site on a iPhone / safari… for example. Your tech people must know what the issue is, surely?

I have been on MN for YEARS but this ‘oh, what could it be, we are just girlies running a conversation round the kitchen table ‘ faux naivety irritates me.

Sorry - rant!

Just Fix It Please.

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 17/12/2024 12:44

Another one https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CDHA7QA?aref=IdndQjzFVK&aaxitk=e9f6cdd1728dc9c21de740c16f387dfc&tag=ss-us-20&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&ref=dacx_dp_580424608320558310_593565134993398985

Safari, iPhone. Please fix it, I can’t use the site.

And one on this thread now, another Amazon one

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 17/12/2024 12:47

sorry, screenshot here

ClicketyClickPlusOne · 17/12/2024 17:32

It’s non stop Amazon.

I just can’t imagine any other site (or product) of MN’s size being so careless of their users experience and so clueless as to how to just stop it.

It is making the site completely unusable.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/12/2024 17:55

Well I guess enough must be still using it, @ClicketyClickPlusOne, or presumably HQ would act

I did wonder though, when they posted on 5 December that there'd been a "small adjustment to Active Threads" to boost those with very few replies.
I'd have thought there'd normally be so many new threads that it wouldn't be worth bothering, but maybe not?

Snowyayday · 18/12/2024 23:05

Giant ads and constant crashing, having to shut chrome down repeatedly.

This was on a thread titled 'AIBU to complain?' I think, about a disappointing ABBA tribute night.

I am using Chrome on a Galaxy A52S. Not clicking on the link as I don't want to encourage them.

Makemineasoda · 23/12/2024 10:57

@BeckyAMumsnet Aarrrgggg came here as I knew there would already be a thread about this. Predominately Amazon with me.

Sooooooo annoying and makes the site unreadable - I’m off to Reddit until it’s sorted!!

@BeckyAMumsnet they're back again.

NewName24 · 30/12/2024 23:56

I don't want to jinx it, but I've not had any for the last week or so (touch wood).

I am envious, @NewName24. KitchenAid is still monopolizing my screen.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 02/01/2025 19:39

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5241986-should-she-replace-it-part-2 just won't even load.

Safari, MacBook Pro, Sequoia 15.2. Every other website I'm currently accessing has absolutely no issues at all.

No ads appearing in the spaces, and none of the page actually loading other than the top couple of posts.

AllHisCaterpillarFriends · 13/01/2025 21:13

Bloody giant adds are back. I can't even click on a link to show you as there are no links on the advert.

I have to close with the X but it freezes my phone and then invariably crashed Chrome.
