Huge adverts making site unusable

I am being plagued by a Taylor Wimpey advert. It takes up the whole page and makes it impossible to scroll. Please get it removed or made smaller.

I'm also getting ads that won't load and make it impossible to use the site. Pixel 8, chrome browser.

Constant freezing and can't go past an ad.have to constantly shut page

I wonder if anyone checks these threads.

I'm having this issue this morning. Refreshing the page doesn't fix it, only copying the URL into a new tab and starting again.

@Thevelvelletes please can you let us know which device you're using? This seems to be a Google/Pixel issue so we just wanted to check if that's the case for you as well.

@Sewsew0 thanks for linking to the thread you were on when this last happened. Is it occurring in other topics as well or is it just this one thread that's the problem today?

I only noticed it on that one thread, hasn't happened on others since.

I think I'm having the same issue. Periodically I can't scroll past an add, it freezes and then I have to shut chrome.
I'm using a Motorola phone - and chrome. It's really bloody tedious.

@JoMumsnet I don't know if this is related at all, but I've just noticed that if I hide a thread, I get an ad popping up in a small new window, not an embedded ad. I took a screenshot after hiding a random thread.

Is that meant to happen? Seems like odd behaviour!

I am having the same on a Samsung Galaxy A40, using Chrome. Trying to read a long thread I missed ("Hoping that Greg Wallace is forgiven ..."), I am about halfway. Towards the bottom of each page there seems to be a big advert which won't load, and then the page is frozen.

Really frustrating, as I enjoy reading Mumsnet on my phone in bed. The same thread is working fine on my desktop PC.

Chrome has been a pita past few days.

KitchenAid is still taking over my screen like it owns the place. Once again, this is on iPad/Chrome.

I'm on a Samsung S23 and this site is virtually unusable. I don't even have an ad blocker. Having to close browser constantly. Can't reply to other posters now either. This site is crippled due to these huge ads!!!!!!

Sadly, this new phenomenon looks like it’s here to stay.

Can't see the ads anyway as they're not even loading.

Still unusable on my iPad-Safari, ok on my iPhone. Any other site on my iPad is completely fine🤷‍♀️

I've been having the kitchenaid ads (as per the 2nd reply, back in October) for a few days now. It is a right pain.

I'm on a laptop, using Chrome.

Happened on this thread this morning. Ad wouldn't load, couldn't flip back or go to any other page.

Is anything happening about it? At least it stops me spending long on MN!

Why don’t you all just install ad blockers?

Something new for today in the gift of ads that keeps on giving.

Covers the whole page as I scroll, can’t click it away without being redirected to Amazon.

This was on the “secret viewpoints” thread in 30 days only, on iPhone.

It’s making me not want to use the site! @mnhq why is this taking so long to sort out?

Same here this morning and yesterday. Honestly MNHQ, just admit you don't give a shit and then people can decide for themselves whether to continue using the site/install an AD blocker etc.
