Was anyone on here a tester for this awful new site?

If so, is it appearing as you saw it during the testing and approval phases, or did it look better and then go horribly wrong somehow? Confused

Those saying they see no changes - can you view photos? Even if i click on them they are still too small to see on a desk top computer.

No one could have used this as it is and thought it looked OK visually never mind any of the functionality.

The amount of white space is ridiculous.

This in spades!
this is why I’ve stopped using MN. On my phone there is so much spacing you have to scroll every post. Not fun. At least before I could see a few posts then scroll, it just makes me feel ill and like it’s too much effort/reading is harder

poorbuthappy · 25/04/2022 09:56

I was a tester.
I'm ashamed to admit that I assumed the version we were using was still under construction so whilst we were working on the functionality I didn't take much notice of the look of it.🙄
I've just started a new thread as I can no longer post via the android app so it's not working out all that well for me anyway!

Halsall · 25/04/2022 11:08

Can’t remember whether it was on this thread or another, but someone noted that the bookmarking now doesn’t update ie you bookmark at one point in a thread, go back to it, read on a bit, then add a new bookmark. Previously, it would erase the first bookmark and automatically open up again at the most recent one.

It isn’t doing that any more; it keeps repeatedly taking me back to the earliest bookmark. So annoying, especially when I've moved on a few pages.

Did anyone notice this during testing?

TheClitterati · 25/04/2022 11:31

I've got arthritis in my hands and this new site is ridiculous. And where has "refresh thread" gone?
And yes way too much white.

I don't mind the ads at all - I know MN needs to make ££ - but the rest of the changes are negative IMO.

I won't be using MN very much now I'm afraid.

SoupDragon · 25/04/2022 11:36

where has "refresh thread" gone?

they will be adding that back in

You can change the colour of your own posts in settings. Everything annoyingly reverted back to the default settings when the site was relaunched but the option is still there.

Thank you!

I really hope so. At the moment I have to flip, then unflip & then scroll all the way back down just to see new posts. Its unworkable.

No but hate the new site!
I'm on the app & I now can't add my comments to posts, unless I reply to someone else's comment like I'm doing here.
I can add comments via the website but I can't be arsed to log into that all the time.
Whats the point in having the app when it doesn't work correctly?

AuntTwacky · 25/04/2022 11:49

Why are there so many out of date pregnancy threads in active?? It's still not right

Exactly the same for me! I've already expressed my frustration at it taking so long for the app to be properly updated.

JulesJules · 23/04/2022 22:17

Site looks exactly the same for me on the app (android) but I can't post anything. I get 'success!' then 'oops something went wrong' Tried logging off and in again but still can't post. Trying this on my phone but not on the app (fingers crossed). It's working on my pc, but just looks crap, sigh.

I'm still getting this too. Only works if you use the Quote function. Have even reinstalled the app but no success.

@TheClitterati what are you using, a phone or desktop? I’m on an iPad, mainly, or else an iPhone. I was groping around for the missing 'refresh' button then realised I could do it by hitting the reload page symbol up at the very top (on the iPad) to the right of the bar next to the MN url. Screenshot attached - assuming the pic will load. It’s similar on my PC iirc. On my phone it’s at the bottom.

would that work for you and/or be less of a faff?

Willowwarble · 25/04/2022 18:33

If anybody has any suggestions for viewing on a Fire tablet they would be gratefully received. Attached is what Mumsnet now looks like, one fecking post at a time can be viewed. I feel quite sad to leave but Its been made virtually impossible to use.

You may find turning the tablet to portrait mode will help a bit

TheClitterati · 02/05/2022 09:51

@Halsall It's on my laptop I'm having the issues. It really has become horrible and actually I won't use MN on my laptop anymore.

Right now I'm on my phone and it's not as bad - I do refresh using the flip thing. But on the computer it's not a workable solution

Halsall · 02/05/2022 10:16

@TheClitterati right, got you. Sorry it’s so frustrating. There are still so many little things that aren’t right.

StAgur · 03/05/2022 06:13

Why haven't MN HQ commented?

MumsGoneToIceland · 03/05/2022 06:27

Sorry haven’t rtft so apologies if this has been covered already but I’m constantly having to accept cookies, get a regular ‘denied’ message and can no longer find how to watch a thread. Is this everyone else’s experience too? Cannot find a way to contact them directly so am about to give up on it altogether!

Have you followed their instructions to delete cookies for Mumsnet in your browser settings?

I assume you're not on the desktop site as "Watch Thread" is an obvious purple button at the top of the thread for me.

SoupDragon · 03/05/2022 08:04

From another thread...

iPhone & iPad

MumsGoneToIceland · 03/05/2022 08:32

@SoupDragon - sorry for being dense, but have not seen any instructions re deleting cookies. I’m on an iPad. Was working like a dream a few weeks back and now no watch button, multiply cookie consent pop ups and random access denied messages :(

SoupDragon · 03/05/2022 09:07

I posted the instructions after my post mentioning them.

MumsGoneToIceland · 03/05/2022 13:54
