Was anyone on here a tester for this awful new site?

If so, is it appearing as you saw it during the testing and approval phases, or did it look better and then go horribly wrong somehow? Confused

It really bothers me that any time I make a comment it’s now in green, as well as anything from the OP being green too

You can change this - just go into talk settings here:

www.mumsnet.com/settings/talk

And pick the colour way you want.

Doesn't fix the other problems but does that one...

You change that yourself in Settings. Mine is a nice shade of lavender now.

SquirrelFan · 20/04/2022 20:57

And trending is still showing days-old threads. Mumsnet might have done me a favour actually--I do spend way too much time on it, but now it's untenable.

Puffalicious · 20/04/2022 20:58

Thanks for the tip- my.comments are now also lavender.

fruitpastille · 20/04/2022 20:58

@IDontDrinkTea you can easily change the colour of your posts in the talk settings.

My layout isn't awful but I don't like the additional spacing and it's all a bit bright/harsh looking.

lightand · 20/04/2022 20:58

I have lots of wasted white space too.

Colours have changed.

And had to log in twice today already

dipdye · 20/04/2022 20:58

Is it that bad?!

I know things can take a while to get used to?

You can change this is settings.

Otherwise I can't use Advanced Search at all and have to keep logging in and consenting.

FFS. 😫

Thank you everyone for helping me
with the colour issue! Didn’t know you could change it!

gamerchick · 20/04/2022 21:01

Christ it's like allaboutme all over again, so much whinging.

You'll get used to it!

Personally I like the bigger words. Means I can put off that eye test for a while longer. Grin

WhatsitWiggle · 20/04/2022 21:01

I'm on Android, and I'm not seeing a huge problem.

The lists of threads being bold is a bit offputting, and the date in the threads (rather than today/yesterday) but that's because I'm rubbish with dates.

But I'm not being asked to consent to anything, the colours are fine. The font is fine - just looks like a plain sans-serif to me.

Ooopps. Sorry I didn't read the thread.

<sits in time out>

Smartiepants79 · 20/04/2022 21:01

It doesn’t look all that different to me on my phone. Can find everything I want to so far. The consent pop-up on the other hand is a pain in the arse.

I started testing it, but found that the input needed and the lack of response when I tried to pin down errors meant it wasn't worth my time, given I wasn't being paid.

SpinningMeSoftly · 20/04/2022 21:15

What I've picked up from lots of comments and personal experience today is that it's a lot harder to use if you are

Visually impaired
Hearing impaired
Arthritic
Rely on assistive technology because ^^
Plus, NeuroDiverse (ND)

and more.

I think it's reasonable to ask how many testers came from this not insignificant pool of Mumsnetters. We do actually write content and buy stuff from ads, like everyone else ... maybe more so if we are looking for good online experiences.

I don't like it at all. Far too many adverts just constantly popping up.

Absolutely agree. So much wrong with the site in terms of accessibility that I wonder if it was even a consideration.

Honestly, @OhYouBadBadKitten afater all you've done for this site they should have been paying you to test it out on different devices and feed back.

Oh well. Twill be what will be now I guess.

cafenoirbiscuit · 20/04/2022 21:24

Where is the refresh button ? 😫

ButtonMoonLoon · 20/04/2022 21:24

I preferred how it looked before.
Will have a play around with settings to see what options there are but I’m likely to use the board a lot less unless I can alter things

PlatinumBrunette · 20/04/2022 21:27

You all seem to see different things, it’s really odd.
It looks and works absolutely fine for me and is much easier to read 🤷‍♀️

ButtonMoonLoon · 20/04/2022 21:28

I can’t find the refresh button either.
