Was anyone on here a tester for this awful new site?

If so, is it appearing as you saw it during the testing and approval phases, or did it look better and then go horribly wrong somehow? Confused

FML - again this pops up on my active threads.

Make your peace with the new forum.

Or move to one of the many alternative forums that’s been suggested.

You solution to a site being rendered substantially less accessible to a sizeable chunk of users, in an era of supposed equality, is not that the problems should be fixed but that we should fuck off elsewhere?

Lovely.

Piggywaspushed · 23/04/2022 13:18

I was one of those people who thought the app was fine until I noticed

a) the times are an hour out
and
b) I can't post any replies.

bilbodog · 23/04/2022 13:40

Im using an ipad and whats driving me crazy is that everytime ive viewed a thread i press arrow to go back to the list of active threads which have now all changed order and where i have loaded more it takes me back to the top and so i keep having to scroll past all the threads i have already seen?

Hide the thread then - your problem solved in about 5 seconds.

My bookmarks aren't working either.

Hala9 · 23/04/2022 17:01

I couldn’t access the ‘I’m on’ or ‘watching’ tabs on the app, so deleted the app thinking perhaps I needed an update.

Now, even after a reset, I can’t log in to the newly downloaded app.

springtimeishereagain · 23/04/2022 19:31

@SirChenjins - Are you on an android phone? I’m on an iPhone and it’s massively different (and not on a good way). On the laptop it’s even worse.

No, I'm on an iPhone!

SerendipityJane · 23/04/2022 19:49

I know there are a lot of less able MNetters out there.

I know not a single one was approached to help with testing (we all remember the call that went out from MNHQ for site users to help with testing accessibility).

A greater part of my life has been spent trying to help the less able. An even greater part has been spent watching the less able - or disabled if you prefer - being shat on from almost every bastion of ability.

I bet MNHQ would rather have spunked £££s on some agency report about accessibility than actually ask someone affected. Much like my local, NHS trust that spent £100,000 commissioning an "accessibility audit" of their £20 million facelift where the main corridors were too small for wheelchairs.

roundedbrush · 23/04/2022 20:01

I can't even read posts on this thread without being thrown off the whole app. Madness.

It’s massively different on an iPhone! And a huge amount of things missing.

Site looks exactly the same for me on the app (android) but I can't post anything. I get 'success!' then 'oops something went wrong' Tried logging off and in again but still can't post. Trying this on my phone but not on the app (fingers crossed). It's working on my pc, but just looks crap, sigh.

Lallybroch · 23/04/2022 22:28

I used to like the 'last 24 hours' option, but it appears you only have '1 hour' now. Can you access 24 hours anywhere?

springtimeishereagain · 23/04/2022 22:38

Mumsnet Talk is exactly the same for me on iPhone, honest.

Rummikub · 23/04/2022 22:58

I’m on iPhone but I preferred the previous version. Safari not app.

the colours have changed? You must notice some changes?

nildesparandum · 23/04/2022 23:51

I do not like it at all

Me too, same to look at but rubbish to use

katepilar · 24/04/2022 11:02

I hate this new look. The letters are smaller and there is lots of blank/white space. Which means that there is a lots less text to read on one screen and I need to scroll a lot more.
I was sat here thinking whether it will be annoying enough for me to read here less or stop altogether as it really does annoy me.

katepilar · 24/04/2022 11:03

I also dont like that the "quote" button is hidden under the three dots. I dont enjoy clicking twice to respond to a certain post.

NutCheeseBag · 24/04/2022 11:09

I’m on iPad. Seems much the same to me.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/04/2022 11:22

Bookmarking is ridiculously intermittent in how successful / easy it is (you sometimes have to press it tens of times for it to register, and then it doesn't always work).

HappydaysArehere · 24/04/2022 20:57

I have only logged in five minutes ago and have had to do it again. Where is the option to quote a post in a reply? There is just a “bookmark”. I have been using Gransnet since it changed so do hope that doesn’t change. Sorry this is now an unfriendly format. Can we have the last one back please?

ICannotRememberAThing · 24/04/2022 21:04

I took part in one of their tests and it was fine. I‘m on my mobile and haven’t seen or tested the desktop site.
The only thing that’s bugging me is that it’s a bit ‘clunky’ - scrolling is not smooth and I keep hitting adverts by mistake (they open another tab) - annoying.

Floydthebarber · 24/04/2022 21:10

Ok, I do have a couple of issues after saying I liked it!

I have having to click on the little arrow rather than the post as I can't reach if I'm using my phone with one hand! It just seems like a pointless change that makes using a phone trickier.

I also don't like that the back button refreshes the talk page rather than simply returning to the same screen.

And my posts are not highlighted in a different colour. Seems really odd to remove that feature.

ICannotRememberAThing · 25/04/2022 04:46

Floydthebarber

You can change the colour of your own posts in settings. Everything annoyingly reverted back to the default settings when the site was relaunched but the option is still there.

Snowiscold · 25/04/2022 07:17

And my posts are not highlighted in a different colour. Seems really odd to remove that feature.

They haven’t removed it. You set that up yourself in Settings - perhaps it was always like that and you’ve just forgotten - it’s just gone back to default.
