Was anyone on here a tester for this awful new site?

If so, is it appearing as you saw it during the testing and approval phases, or did it look better and then go horribly wrong somehow?

Oh I wonder if that’s the difference? I’m on browser on my mobile rather than app.

It's much slower as well. When I click "active" or "watching" it takes longer to load than it used to.
I also don't like my comment being green like the OPs.

I've now opened MN in Mozilla on my PC.

I have reduced the font size to 80%.
There's a lot of white space, but IMO that looks clean.
The dialog box/box where you type and hit post functions as it used to.
The emoji section is different but IMO easier to use.
I was grandfathered in with the capacity to see all posts on a thread, not broken down into pages. I am glad this option is now open to everyone.
IMO it was preferable to having to hit Next all the time.

I'm going to check my Watched threads now, and also my PMs.

I find it fine on iMac, iPad and iPhone, at least I can get all the posts on one page now whereas after I reregistered a couple of years ago I lost that facility which I had when I first used MN. Lots of white spaces I guess is because I use an adblocker but that's my choice.

If you are finding things slower to load, it's likely to be down to your internet connection. I don't find it any slower.

Do you think it miraculously got slower for people at the same time MN introduced a new site which they'd pulled earlier for being slow?

At the top of each topic page there are 5 empty lines before the threads start. Are these going to be filled with pinned threads or is this a glitch?

I can't post on the app. The whole page is shocking on safari. Slow, with huge white spaces and loads and loads of ads all over the place.

Got the app on my iPad. Marginally better but just so un-user friendly. Still loads of white pace. If I click a link, I'm back to safari which then needs closed and I have to go back to the app. It's just rubbish. Certainly haven't been on MN as much as I would usually.

Oh, my internet connection is fine to the poster who said that might be slowing things down. Not all of us who have said it's slow can all of a sudden have an internet issue.

The site is largely unusable to anyone dependent on assistive technology.

That is sloppy design, build and test and I note the page of things to be fixed makes no commitments to fix this, just that they will talk to some people about some of the visual components. Not a word about navigation, user journeys and tags used by the main assistive tools. These are not "glitches" they are great big barriers to use for people with a whole range of disabilities and needs.

If this was just about ugly page design and bad styling or simply change it would not have provoked half the reaction it has.

Are you on an android phone? I’m on an iPhone and it’s massively different (and not on a good way). On the laptop it’s even worse.

It's still a complete disaster on a Chromebook (where I do 99% of mn reading). Here's a typical page.

It looks like it was designed by someone in primary school. How on EARTH MN thinks it passes muster beats me. Just dreadful.

I’d say make YOUR peace with the fact that the site is shite for a large number of people. You could, you know, ignore the thread!

It’s not very consistent - seems to look different depending on the device you’re using. Let’s hope the new platform is flexible and MN can make some changes.
