Hello everyone.

After a bump in the road on last week’s attempt (sorry about that) we’re re-platforming Mumsnet Talk tonight. Because of this, the site will be down from midnight tonight (19/4) until 5am on Wednesday (20/4) morning.

For those of us resistant to change - don’t panic! The functionality of the site won’t change very much for now apart from some improvements to existing features like search and private messages. Our plan is to add more features/make updates once we are settled into the new platform.

However, there are a few things that you should be aware of before logging in tomorrow:

The first time you log on to Mumsnet post-replatforming you will need to remember your password. If you can’t (and let’s face it, few of us can) then you’ll need to reset your password. Sorry if that’s a pain - but it is the only secure way to do this.

You may need to update your browser. If you still view Mumsnet on an older browser you may experience compatibility problems with images, videos and links not working properly and you might not be able to post on a thread or fill in a form. To ensure you avoid these kinds of issues, we suggest you update your browser. Please click here for more information about re-platforming and how to update your browser.

And, not forgetting a massive thank you and unMumsnetty hugs to everyone who helped us test the new platform. You’re all stars.

Where’s the consent page?

@mnhq please, please can someone tell me if the android app is ever going to work? I have uninstalled and reinstalled again today, yet I still can't post anything, open links, and posting times are still an hour behind. Getting very frustrated. In 2022, when millions of people prefer to use apps rather than web versions, I'm amazed this issue hasn't been fixed yet. Feeling quite sad and disappointed that I just won't be able to come on here anymore 😕

I have been trying to use the new site for a few days now - to see if, once I was used to it, it was OK - but there are still issues.

The main one for me now is the site speed - threads take much longer to load, and posts take much longer to post - it feels almost like dial-up speeds.

And I haven't seen anything addressing the issue of Last Hour threads being all jumbled up, and refreshing so fast that threads simply vanish while you are reading another one.

Still no 'Threads I'm on' or 'Threads I'm watching' for me on the iOS app, and I keep getting the black screen of doom on the website.

I still find the look of the new website very difficult - too much white space for someone with my eye issues - but could work round that if the thing actually bloody worked!

Please MNHQ, iron out some more of the issues!!

Every time I do anything I get a page asking if I reject or accept then saying I can't use the site fully if I don't accept everything .

We think we've identified the issue. If you follow the instructions below the consent pop up should stop appearing once you've reselected your preferences.

iPhone & iPad
Navigate to your settings
Click on ‘Safari’
Scroll to the bottom and choose ‘Advanced’
Click on ‘Website Data’
Type ‘Mumsnet' into the search box
Swipe left on ‘Mumsnet’ and choose ‘Delete’

Macs
Open your Safari preferences
Click ‘Privacy’
Click ‘Manage Website Data’
Type ‘Mumsnet' into the search box
Click on ‘Mumsnet.com’ and choose ‘Remove’
Click ‘Done'

I got onto Private Messages - apparently I had 11 unread ones.

I scrolled back and back through the mists of time and through name-changes, like disappearing into the layers of geological time periods, and found some red dots from as far back as 2017 ffs.

These messages weren't red-dotted before the platform change.

Anyway, I clicked on them and the red dots have gone. It was quite the nostalgia trip.

I could do everything except swipe left and get the delete option. I did delete all other sites that were there, all except one 8 had never used. I can now see my PMs but still have after every action.

I have threads I'm on but not threads I'm watching on the same app

Bookmarks seem properly broken again. Can't get them to register when I'm pressing them. Where I do have them in place, it's taking me to the top of the post. Not helpful.

Bookmarking not working

asking for consent every time. I won't give in. I'll just leave.

Tried to post a reply earlier - got an error message three times saying it couldn't be posted - clicked cancel and saw it had in fact been posted three times over. Never happened on MN before so must surely be the result of the improvements [sic].

Loads of multiple posts all over MN today, including my own - it's really frustrating, both for the poster and the readers.

I wonder if it helps boost the metrics. MN can say "look, after our improvements we got 5 million posts" compared to the week before where we only got 1 million"
