Can't scroll past some adverts

I'm on an android phone using chrome, on some threads I will reach an advert and then cannot scroll past it!

If I remember rightly, I saw a thread saying the same thing l, so I didn't post as I assumed it would be fixed, it still seems to be happening though!

I'm on android phone, Chrome and it's sticking on many adverts.
I'll be on a thread, get to an advert and it freezes for ages. Happening loads.

Just installed an ad blocker after reading this. An ad blocker just for Mumsnet.

I now have adblocker symbol at the top of my phone permanently and it takes up a chunk of memorey, just for Mumsnet.

It's a really poor show I've had to resort to this, but it works. Just get grey boxes now where the ads are.

Happened again just now. Google Pixel phone, Android. Just scrolling through the Apprentice 2 thread, except now I can't scroll at all, and have had to open a new window, and open Mumsnet to post this.

Will try and get the URL.

Sorry, am using Chrome. Can't get the URL as the screen has completely frozen. It's that Dunelm ad.

Off to download an ad blocker.

iPhone 12, has happened sporadically since late November ish. Happening again today. I don’t have the app but I’m downloading it now to see if there will be any improvement.

I scroll down a page as I’m reading, get to an ad (no idea which ones, when it starts it seems to be all of them) and then I get a white page below, no posts.

If I keep scrolling down on the white screen all of a sudden the bottom of the page appears, or sometimes half a post much further down (I’ll have skipped several posts). If I wait, and I’m lucky, the posts suddenly appear, but trying to scroll up or down goes either really slowly, skips several, turns white or freezes. After this starts then the site becomes useless. Clicking on to posts, buttons etc doesn’t work, or works so slowly there’s no point being on it (someone upthread mentioned 1990’s internet - the perfect description!). Typing this has been hellish. Photos attached…

It's been happening to me in active conversations today, not just in threads. How on earth does it take months to fix this?

Is this ever going to change now? It's happened several times in the last half hour and blocks for up to 5 minutes. Giving up and going to bed.

The banner at the top encouraging us to join Mumsnet insight, moves constantly while the rest of the page with a big advert, is frozen. Total PITA.

Just came to start a thread about this. Ruddy great adverts right over the first post on a thread, can’t get rid of it, makes the whole thing unusable if we can’t see the OPs post!

Hi all, and apologies for the delay on this one. We've been testing it in the virtual MN office and we can't replicate the issue.
For those of you who are having the scrolling problems - it would be a big help if you could let us know the latest operating system installed on your device and the version of your chrome/safari browser.

To see which Android version you have
Open your phone's Settings app.
Near the bottom, tap System. System update.
See your 'Android version' and 'Android security update'.

Also - and we know these are big asks, but we do want to sort this out for you...

If it happens again, could you switch on airplane mode then click on the ad and copy and paste the click string (the long address of the ad) on to this thread - this will give us the information we need so that we can tell where the ad is coming from.

When you say you’re testing in the virtual MN office. Are you testing on actual mobiles or trying to replicate this using dev tools of some sort?
