Can't scroll past some adverts

I'm on an android phone using chrome, on some threads I will reach an advert and then cannot scroll past it!

If I remember rightly, I saw a thread saying the same thing l, so I didn't post as I assumed it would be fixed, it still seems to be happening though!

I get this sometimes on my phone (Samsung S21 Ultra), but not on tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab s7+), both using Chrome, nor on desktop/laptop using Chrome. It seems to be caused by the large in thread adverts.

Ooh glad it's not just me. Exactly the same problem. Looking at the age of this thread I'm guessing it's not getting fixed!

Interestingly I just tried ticking the Chrome "Desktop View" option as it happened again, that fixed the page, I asked my husband (who is a bit of a geek), he said that the issue seems to be the advert fills the whole page and scrolling on top of the advert itself is blocked, eg. you can scroll anywhere on the page, but not on those ads, due to the way they are served, but because the ad fills the whole page you have nowhere to scroll from.

Surprised this thread is so short. Keeps totally freezing on IOS.

I used to get this lots, and haven't noticed it happening in the last week or so, I thought I'd reported it, but can't see above.

Yep, happening on iOS / Safari here too.

It seems to be the ad failing to load (they keep getting 'URL is too long for the server' messages where the ad should be), which in turn kills the page loading. My screen then freezes for ages and I'm trapped on the page.

The functionality of the site (or lack thereof) related to ads has been a problem forever. MNHQ seemingly can't get it right (or don't care).

The site is barely useable with these ads preventing the thread loading / causing the page to freeze. Maybe have fewer video ads, as your programming team clearly haven't worked out how to have video ads AND a functioning website.

There's no point trying to pinpoint an ad as it's all the video ads inserted every few posts, not a specific ad.

Because they want to force us to pay for Premium.

The Vrbo advert absolutely murders any thread it’s on. Chrome or Safari on iOS.

Happening to me on a pixel for about 2 weeks now. Really annoying. After a minute or so it unfreezes.

Is premium actually any better?! If Mumsnet could make a functioning website, they would've made a functioning website.

There’s now adverts appearing half way through posts. It’s happened on numerous threads this evening.

I've no idea about Premium, because I'm not going to pay them for browsing the site not even if they try to bribe me with cider!

Fundamentally, the issue is the functionality of the site, which is poor. As I'm not an IT bod with the knowledge required to know why this is, I don't know why it can't be / hasn't been fixed, however. 🤷‍♀️

This is happening me constantly the last month and is driving me nuts! Can't scroll past the as and it is causing my screen to freeze. Using mm on the browser with and Android device.

It's not even video ads here, just regular old ones.

I get adverts appearing in the middle of posts every day then the full site freezes. It only started to happen when Mumsnet Premium was brought in. I do think it’s a ploy to get people to sign up to Premium which I’m NOT doing. The adverts on this site are ridiculous.
