What actually are your plans to deal with disablism on MN?

You remember you were going to impliment all kinds of things, Message which explained posts were deleted due to disablism, Emails to the posters, proactive buzzwords...

a year on what has been the result of this massive change in moderation?

Now i'm not suggesting this was a carrot, dangled to try and stop people leaving....
But we donkeys ARE getting a little tired of walking and woudl like to know what plans are there for the future to stop attacks.

Don't forget relentlessly and personally attacked as I was by a troll who knew how to maximise mental damage - posting at night, early in the morning and at weekends so the skeleton admin staff wouldn't act.

I know Bish, and tbh I feel like that troll has won, as much as one can, because they've driven another load of posters off MN. I'm not sure there are enough decent posters left here to bother staying anymore. We just get drowned in crap and there's not enough of us to shovel quick enough.

Yes but that is partially down to these bannings too, surely?

Samcro has been around these parts longer than I have under various names, she's part of the old guard in the disability community and has been a wealth of support and knowledge. As a parent of an adult disabled child she relied on this place as a source of outside contact at times.

But no - it's not for her apparently so off she goes?!?!?

The ASD/misdiagnosis thread is still up.
I reported it yesterday and had no response. I know other posters mentioned that they'd reported it.
If MNHQ are happy to sit by and ignore a deliberately goady thread, and ban Samcro and Dawn, it doesn't say a lot about their stance on disablism, and rather looks like they're part of the problem instead of trying to work against it, like they would if it was racism.

Of course the bannings are part of it. For old timers like Sam and Dawn to both get to a point where MN ban them, and to be banned for pretty minor stuff when loads of posters get away with far worse (when not even being provoked) is pretty significant. The trolls and goady fuckers get a free pass to keep re-registering with no consequences, while anyone who challenges them and wants to keep their MN identity is shown the door. Posters wouldn't get so pissed off if reports were dealt with more quickly and if we weren't left to educate the ignorant again and again.

I'm still waiting to hear back about reports I made on Sunday.

And I'm one of the reporters. As an autistic person that thread is very offensive.

You would think that an online parenting forum would be overly represented by disabled parents and parents of disabled children, as the need for support in an easily accessible form is important. In the case of autism as well, it's far easier to socialise somewhere like this than in RL.
How disappointing that MNHQ don't value their presence and input.

Think DawnDonna can come back but obviously given what's happened to Samcro - being banned for objecting to disablist posts - she's. it sure she wants to.

It was considered this meant criticism of moderation.
Which on evenings and weekends is practically non existent which is why there is a lot of frustration.
