You remember you were going to impliment all kinds of things, Message which explained posts were deleted due to disablism, Emails to the posters, proactive buzzwords...

a year on what has been the result of this massive change in moderation?

Now i'm not suggesting this was a carrot, dangled to try and stop people leaving....
But we donkeys ARE getting a little tired of walking and woudl like to know what plans are there for the future to stop attacks.

It's a week long camping holiday for families who have a child with a disability or special need. A small festival. Which has entertainment to sort all needs including a sports day. A weekend of fun for families that don't lead an easy life, where food and drink are provided friendship and support are in abundance

I think people are being harsh, maybe look only it a bit more before slating it?

Speshfest was chosen as a name by a young woman with CP and learning difficulties. I think it's unfair to judge her - especially on a post that is actually wanting to stop judging from the outside

friendswillknowme · 17/07/2017 20:42

What I meant was although the title is Special Kids in the U.K. - it doesn't only cater for the under 18's. Some of the 'kids' are adults but the parents still need the support. There isn't a cut off

JustadaftProfessor · 17/07/2017 20:44

Unfortunatly I'm not sure your site is suitable for me friendswillknowme I'm a disabled adult with no children.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 17/07/2017 20:46

My parents don't need support - I'm a grown woman! My DH needs support.

friendswillknowme · 17/07/2017 20:49

Yes, I know that but someone upthread said something about finding somewhere else to go as the troll and disablist attitude that can be seen on Mumsnet isn't going away. I was just suggesting one place that might suit some people

Polter · 17/07/2017 20:49

If people find it helpful that's great friends, but the point being made is that MN's demographic is much broader.

Weebo · 17/07/2017 21:10

It's good to know, Friendswill. Nothing wrong with giving people some options.

I am looking through the gallery on the website and it looks to be a great bunch of people.

Samcro · 17/07/2017 21:50

Wow what a horrible name
I looked ito thaat site years ago wasn't for me, now i can see why.
Anyways i do not want to leave mn, it has toomany good points. Just hate the disablism

BishopBrennansArse · 17/07/2017 22:16

Well... quite.

The friends I've made here are because they're here. They're not all parents of disabled children, most are, but some are disabled themselves and some are both like me. I also have got to know other posters from outside the disabled community here. I like here. I just don't want to be attacked just for being disabled or having disabled children. I don't want the shitty pms and the nastiness on board too. The fact it's a long time poster here repeated trolling and there's nothing that can be done about it and the only advice from mn hq is that if it's not for mr maybe leave....

There is stuff I don't want to leave. I don't want to go elsewhere (although I'm sure it's lovely) on the whole I like the mix here.

I just want the shitehawk arsebadger causing all the grief and those like her to be dealt with properly.

JustadaftProfessor · 18/07/2017 08:13

As others have said, there is a pretty big variation in the people posting here and the support given.

BishopBrennansArse · 18/07/2017 16:40

Also concerned with posts on the CG11 thread advocating right to die for an individual I hear about still, very regularly, and comparing her to CG.

Samcro · 18/07/2017 16:42

me too, now they are using an ex sn posters child, beyond sick

BishopBrennansArse · 18/07/2017 16:44

Particularly as CP - the disability this child has - is in no way remotely comparable to Charlie's situation. Speculating on quality of life for a child who has CP is straying into euthanasia territory.

Samcro · 18/07/2017 16:48

I have CP mentioned a few times on there....don't get me started on the post about brain damage.
people are clueless yet pretend to know about it.

BishopBrennansArse · 18/07/2017 16:49

Quite.
I know damn well some of the awesome kids I now know who have CP have brilliant lives thanks very much.

Samcro · 18/07/2017 16:50

yep my girl and her mates...even the ones with complex medical needs all have really good lives

BishopBrennansArse · 18/07/2017 16:54

She's got a cracking sense of humour too Grin

Samcro · 18/07/2017 16:59

oh yes, she face timed me the other day, her carer dropped the ipad on her head(she wasn't hurt) she couldn't stop lol

the disablism on there is terrible. I have just yet again reported a post.
doubt it will be deleted. seems they can say anything.\mn hq made a big mistake not shutting it down. they have taken any steps forward on here back to the beginning.

Samcro · 18/07/2017 18:00

i stand corrected, its gone lets hope the other one goes too.\people need to learn to think hard before they talk about something they know nothing aboutAngry
