What actually are your plans to deal with disablism on MN?

You remember you were going to impliment all kinds of things, Message which explained posts were deleted due to disablism, Emails to the posters, proactive buzzwords...

a year on what has been the result of this massive change in moderation?

Now i'm not suggesting this was a carrot, dangled to try and stop people leaving....
But we donkeys ARE getting a little tired of walking and woudl like to know what plans are there for the future to stop attacks.

That thread is awful and all its doing is calling members of another site names, people seem obsessed and I've reported posts too

Several posters (me included) have politely pointed out that some aspects of the threads are distasteful and not helping anyone. The reponse is "if you don't like it hide it". This is from the same people who are posting about how awful the CA FB page is. No irony there then.

i find odd that mn hq have not only allowed these threads, but not explained why....surely it goes against their TIMC campaign to have people use in sick disabled child as entertainment.

Agreed Samcro and if a poster dares to disagree they are shot down in flames

It was someone saying they were banned yesterday and were able to re-register today.

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. We've been looking into this early morning posting of disablist posts and abusive PMs and we've identified the poster, who has been previously banned but is persistently re-regging, for reasons we can't quite fathom, in order to do this.

We're really sorry that some of you have been targeted like this - we know it feels doubly awful when it comes in the form of a PM. We are keeping a close watch for further re-regs, but this troll is very persistent. In the meantime, we are looking again if more can be done from a tech perspective to track persistent re-regs who are determined to cause upset - this won't be a quick process but we'll keep you informed.

If you know who it is can you not get the police involved?

Have you taken advice from other forum who don't have an issue with preventing trolls from re-registering?

I am annoyed that yet again a serous issue has been derailed by a troll.
This seems to happen a lot on these threads, why is that?
Why cant we discuss disablism without this?
I have been away for a couple of days, and come back and see another derail.
If posters are deliberately targeting threads like these should they not be dealt with?
I cant make suggestions about the pbp as I don't know enough tech stuff,
But for once please could we have a thread that is not derailed and perhaps mn hq actually talk to us about the issues raised.

I didn't agree with you at first Samcro regarding the Charlie Gard threads but I do now. 12,000 + posts and on the 13th thread.

Just so everyone knows both DawnDonna and Samcro have both been banned without warning for reacting to being endlessly goaded by trolls.

One for using ODFOD which is in the glossary. I'd suggest removal if it's a bannable term.

It seems the posters from the disabled community who object to disablist language are being got rid of without warning.

As for Samcro no actual post was listed it was a case of "we don't think MN is for you anymore, buh bye" (not a direct quote.

Oh and don't forget Dawn's banning came after a week of intense trolling with personal attacks both on board and via PM (which I also had too).
