I thoroughly dispute that my posts or many of the op's posts were transphobic. I stated several times that people can't change sex and that trans women are male, these are absolute, verifiable facts. Not matters of opinion. And definitely not phobic or bigoted statements. Something has changed in your moderation policy recently and a lot more is being deleted for perceived transphobia which wouldn't have previously. What is happening here? Are we being shut down? Are facts beyond the pale at mumsnet now?

MN is doing a much better job than most of the Internet is managing at the moment. 90% of the Internet is porn puppies and male conversation and either ignores trans issues or hates women so much that it's just noise. The 10% of the interment women have a voice is firmly and completely pro-trans activist. Not pro-trans, because I'm pro-trans (I'm pro-humans actually), but pro-lying-stupid-weird-dangerous nonsense.

Then there's MN and a few feminist blogs. Please stay open MN, we need you.

Just checked. I was deleted for stating that you cannot change biological sex.

What a fucking joke.

I am not transphobic; I do not hate or fear people who are deeply unhappy in their assigned birth sex and wish to change gender, however I have legitimate concerns over how some transgender people wish to redefine born women as 'cis-women' as this is considered both reductive and pejorative by many of us. (And sadly, in some cases this is exactly what is intended.)
I am concerned that some MTF transgender people insist they have the right to be in women-only spaces, even though many women who might wish to use these spaces are deeply uncomfortable with their presence due the women's experiences of male violence or sex crimes. I would support widespread installation of unisex/gender neutral bathrooms for example and would happily use them myself. But other women could be unhappy about using them and prefer a women-only space. Likewise, I'm sure many men prefer using male only toilets.
I'm also unhappy at the thought of criminal acts by MTF transgender individuals being officially recorded as being committed by women, and of MTF transgender athletes who have gone through puberty as males competing as women in sport.
And I think all these issues should be discussed freely and openly on Mumsnet without fear of deletion due to complaints by the professionally offended. Disagreement is not offense.

I have not seen the thread, but if these posts are accurate then the deleted posts should!d have been left to stand. The problem with "transphobic" is that it is a very quick way of trying to shut down a discussion.

Haven't seen the thread but if poster have been deleted for stating facts like "you can't change biological sex" that is a change of policy and a very disturbing turn of events.

Has anyone reported this thread to MNHQ so they can comment?

I reported.

Hi all,

We temporarily removed the thread so we could go through and remove what we felt broke Talk Guidelines. We will discuss this at MNHQ and review the thread in question. The last thing we like to do is upset folk or shut down discussion.

It's frightening if you can't state the neutral fact that it is not possible to change biological sex.

Agree with OP completely.

I saw another thread the other day where a lovely lady was very concerned about her dc coming out as trans. She was worried and asking for advice.

Thread got totally derailed by the usual cries of vile and transphobic. Felt really bad for the OP.

I am fed up of being asked, nay demanded to accept that it is possible to change sex.

All this trans/non-binary/genderqueer rubbish is simply defining the rest of us against our will. It's insulting and demeaning to all. There are 2 well-defined sexes. As far as gender is concerned, as it's all made-up bullshit anyway perhaps the trans movement and non-binary movement and the feminists band together to end these unecessary constraints on our lives.

But, as per usual, it's the feminists to blame for pointing out the obvious and not agreeing that the emporer is wearing any clothes (even a dress).

I don't usually come into these debates but I will on this one because TBH I am sick to the back teeth of the word trans coming up in every other bloody thread.

MN HQ can't we just ban the discussion of trans issues on MN or create a separate topic so the rest of us can hide it?

Utterly agree

Or you could just not read the threads? Confused

And then you wouldn't be trying to silence other people.

Report

There plenty of threads that hold no interest to me.
I just ignore them Hmm

Report
Queenbean · 03/08/2016 18:30

Please let me know how to set up "hide all trans threads and all mentions of trans on threads" and I will willingly do so but they pop up bloody everywhere.

And it's like Groundhog Day in terms of discussion, same things over and over again.

You're really all not bored of the trans debate?!

Report

No, just bored with people whining about the debate.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 03/08/2016 18:52

Well Queen that rather proves that you haven't been reading the threads because, despite the attempts of the perpetually and professionally offended to counter every thread by crying offense (I am not referring to you btw) Today's thread was about a current case. Yy certain vocal trans activists would like women to stop speaking about issues like this but whilst we're being silenced, judges, defence solicitors and male criminals* are using 'trans' as an excuse for leniency even in cases of sexual abuse.

*they 'identified' as male when they committed the crimes then became trans in the gap between committing the abuse and being called to court, allowing their defence to claim they were now a 'different' person and shouldn't be held responsible.

I'm also not bored of it - in fact the opposite really as it's hugely concerning. I read recently that team GB heading to the Olympics has two transgender people in it - which means two biological women who've been training for years cheated out if a place - absolutely not ok. We should be up in arms about all of this.

Thank you katherinemumsnet

Please review my posts. I am 100% sure that I didn't post anything hateful or discriminatory. I did indeed post that being psychologically female in a male body is an impossible state - there is currently no evidence that male and female brains are significantly different at birth and there is no evidence that being trans has an organic cause (born with the wrong sexed brain narrative). These are simply theories without substance and they are not politically neutral. The 'female brain' trope is actively harmful to women and I utterly reject it.
Deleting my post on the basis that I made an assertion for which there is significant empirical evidence on the basis that it might hurt some people's feelings is absurd. It is akin to deleting a poster saying 'there is absolutely no evidence for the existence of God and therefore God does not exist' because it might upset people with religious faith. Would you do that?

Not bored, no.

Seriously I always wondered why it was so important. If you start looking into the whole issue and seeing what is happening - yes it is very much an issue that needs more light on it that it is getting now.

This is something that affects all of us. I fyou are for or against it you should still be interested Hmm

Must it all be talk of "Sil wants to look up my foof at my 38 week exam and dh says I am leaving her out of it if I don't let her"?
