What prompted this change?

The thread titles need to be brighter - they are too hard to see. And having to scroll left and right to read each line is just CRAZY not to mention tedious. Why HAVE you made it so wide????????????????????????????
Really will give up MN if it stays like this.

I use firefox and it looks fine to me.

piglit · 15/12/2006 11:29

This is crapola. I can't even see the whole message on screen and have to scrowl across every message. I liked MN layout before because it was easy to use and refresh and all that kind of thing.

And the colours are insipid, dull and boring.

Oh well, I'll go and find something else to do.

JanH · 15/12/2006 11:30

Ohhhh - it's stopped squeezing up again. Someone is tinkering.

RubberDuckWithCranberrySauce · 15/12/2006 11:30

Oh and not being able to tell where I've read up to because the colour no longer changes on the links has just made it completely utterly unusable for me.

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 15/12/2006 11:31

But Katierocket, we don't all have firefox! For the rest of us, to read a long message we have to move the page sideways all the time, which hurts your eyes after a bit.

RubberDuckWithCranberrySauce · 15/12/2006 11:31

Firefox you have to read sideways too.

JanH · 15/12/2006 11:31

(lulumama's post of 11.19 is what's making this thread so wide btw - they're not all as bad)

RubberDuckWithCranberrySauce · 15/12/2006 11:32

Of course, on the plus side with the scrolling on we don't see those crappy ads on the side, so mumsnet's revenue should be plummeting shortly

BrandyTutter · 15/12/2006 11:32

JanH we have a no blame culture here

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 15/12/2006 11:33

if we have to scroll to and fro on both side then i shall give up completely..but may be that wouldn't be abd thing

I am amazed it was a designer who picked the colours and the changes..bring back tech

JanH · 15/12/2006 11:33

Oh I'm not blaming lm, Tutter!

(I'm blaming the Guardian tinkerer )

tamum · 15/12/2006 11:34

You know what it feels like, it's as though you've come back from Christmas shopping and someone's come into your house and rearranged all the furniture and squished it all up in the middle of the room.

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 15/12/2006 11:34

Oh I don't like it! Sob!!!!!!!!!!!!

Makes my head hurt and my eyes hurt. Think I'm going to have to concentrate on my study instead!

Tech.......... if you put it all back we'll send you chocolate and your favourite alcholic tipple! You'll never need to buy those things again!

Please!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll bake you a life supply of lemon drizzle cake, chocolate cake.......... anything!!!!!!!!

I'm definitely a creature of habit. I don't like this change!

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 15/12/2006 11:35

I'll buy him a pint!

katierocket · 15/12/2006 11:36

"But Katierocket, we don't all have firefox! For the rest of us, to read a long message we have to move the page sideways all the time, which hurts your eyes after a bit."

Yes I have to do that too but I'm just saying it doesn't bother me. I just can't get myself worked up about something like this. It's just new and you're not used to it - that's all.

RubberDuckWithCranberrySauce · 15/12/2006 11:36

I'm amazed you got the guardian unlimited guy to work on it, tbh. As the Guardian talk section was always a right pita to navigate and doesn't look particularly good either.

BrandyTutter · 15/12/2006 11:37

shurrup katieocket, just cos you fancy tech

RubberDuckWithCranberrySauce · 15/12/2006 11:37

Well there you go, Mumsnet HQ - one person out of 50,000 likes the redesign, so that's alright then

FLAMEinEckItsYuleAgain · 15/12/2006 11:37

Oh thankyou KR - I use firefox at home (at my mums now)... I thought I was going to have to start looking into this rl thing I've heard mentioned...

Head hurts.

Might go away until it can be personalised.

katierocket · 15/12/2006 11:38

LOL - repeat after me everyone

"It's only a website, it's only a website"

(maybe I've been here to long but I just don't see why everyone is so upset about it)

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 15/12/2006 11:38

Yeah KatieRocket - either agree with us or leave the room!

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 15/12/2006 11:38

I can't stand scrolling from side to side it will take hours to read anything in the classic style you could read the whole page quickly..scrolling to and fro is just impossibly slow

cardy · 15/12/2006 11:38

MN - From a subjective point of viewing I do think it is important to respond to feedback and take comments on board from your customers.
