like hovis

please

foxinsocks · 15/12/2006 10:41

quite like the colours though

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 15/12/2006 10:42

well

Since I joined mn in the distant past the size of the bit that really matters (ie the talk!) has been eroded, first by that blimming advert flashing away on the right and now by the stupid grey box on the left. It makes it much harder to read, involves a LOT more scrolling down etc.

I'm sure the Guardian unlimited web designer is fab but these are totally different websites. You don't stay on the Guardian website all day chatting

We HAVE to have an easy to read site as our members are so active.

Its like having a dogdy leg wax.....necessary maybe but you know you want to braid the hair for a bit instead.

I feel a revolt coming on Xmas Grin

marymillington · 15/12/2006 10:43

i'm just not a fan of drop down menus. i don;t like having to hover about to refresh active convos. the old one-click system was v efficient. and you can't see as many posts as previously.

but i'm sure we will all get used to it in time.

cazzybabs · 15/12/2006 10:43

I find it harder to read...and find things for my pennys worth!

I DON'T LIKE IT EITHER

just popped on for 2 mins and have to leave...it hurts my head

munz · 15/12/2006 10:43

LMAO @ ding dong! yes quite, us mnetters like chatitng all day to our mates here! lol. I don't suppose you would on the gardian! lol.

anyhow love the idea of being able to vary MN to our own tastes, think that's fab - for me it would go straight back to how it was before thou! lol

SchneeBallFight · 15/12/2006 10:44

I think everyone is being a bit overly-huffy! It is not THAT big a deal surely! Doesn't bother me.

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 15/12/2006 10:45

I really genuinely do have a headache and I have only been on here about 20 mins

argh

OP posts:
munz · 15/12/2006 10:45

ah but you should know by now us lot take tie in getting used to things, even a little thing causes a few threads, something as major as this - well will keeps us talking for weeks!

FrumpytheGrumpyreindeer · 15/12/2006 10:45

I too ran to the bucket first to check how much wine I got through......

DingDong, Ding Dong, I've never invested hours on the Guardian website either.

Alka Seltzer anyone?

Tortington · 15/12/2006 10:46

right have just been on to threads i am on

and its bullet pointed.

i bet mumsnet towers paid thousands for some little prick who wasnt born in the 1990 to come and design something that looks like a fcking year 7 IT lesson - scan the page you just get underline after underline

and Bullet points

not to mention the whole area is smaller

due to more avertising

JanH · 15/12/2006 10:46

When they changed the way the MBs worked on the BBC I stopped going there except for the briefest of visits - this is differently horrible but still horrible and I fucking hate it too. Hate the brown bit, hate losing the different talk alternatives at the top, hate that each thread now takes up 2 lines in active convos.

The text doesn't squeeze up now when you narrow the page either, reading large blocks of text spread across the full screen is hard (maybe that's an age thing though )

Sorry, Justine et al

CouldEquallyHaveBeenAnAardvark · 15/12/2006 10:47

Look, MN Towers, you've made Jan swear now (and one of the ugliest swear words too - I'd never say that, I want you to know) - can you see how serious this is now? Hmm?

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 15/12/2006 10:47

Frumpy you keep your wine in a bucket?

OP posts:
Earlybird · 15/12/2006 10:48

I bet it's a conspiracy against us old timers perpetrated by the newbies! Xmas Grin (a weak attempt at humour in a time of great shock...)

I seriously don't like it....

CouldEquallyHaveBeenAnAardvark · 15/12/2006 10:48

Can I just say I've never bought anything from Boden and I never will if this layour doesn't go back to how it was before.

In fact, I will never click another ad link (and I often do, actually).

[childish] [petty]

BexieID · 15/12/2006 10:49

Whats that saying? 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'. Something like that.

I don't like the drop down menus either. Don't help that i'm usually feeding my son whilst on here, sitting at a weird angle and using one hand!

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 15/12/2006 10:49

Aardvark you ARE militiant

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 15/12/2006 10:49

or if you didn't want to get rid of the left toolbar and put it up top, you could move the right hand ad under the one on the left (so there would be only one column taking up space on active convos rather than two)

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 15/12/2006 10:50

Also, Justine, you try using that pop out menu to get to active convos when using a touchpad on a laptop it takes forever

OP posts:
Tortington · 15/12/2006 10:51

they won't change it.

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 15/12/2006 10:52

i know

well I needed to spend less time here anyway so I guess from a selfish pov it is good
