DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 15/12/2006 10:11

What prompted this change?

OP posts:
myrrhthamoo · 15/12/2006 11:38

Oh I don't like it. Sorry. It's horrid.

JanH · 15/12/2006 11:39

tamum, that is a good analogy but have you seen fairyfly's?

myrrhthamoo · 15/12/2006 11:39

I hadn't even noticed the scrolling thing - ugh, change it back now please.

MistleToo · 15/12/2006 11:39

It's shoyte

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 15/12/2006 11:39

It's only started doing this to me. I have firefox too.
I don't like this side to side lark, that's really had work. Will make inetretsing thoughtfully long post really really hard to read.
Is that what MN Towers wants to reduce maybe?

myrrhthamoo · 15/12/2006 11:40

I'll have a look at it in Firefox and see if it's any better...

FLAMEinEckItsYuleAgain · 15/12/2006 11:40

Oh arse, i thought you meant it fitted with firefox.

See you all in the new year I think.

PinkTinsel · 15/12/2006 11:40

I HATE IT!

its all pale and pasty and annoying and why
do i have to scroll sideways as well as up
and down!!!! i'm on here feeding my ds
most of the time, i don't have enough hands for this crap!

omg i really, really hate it!

and active convos is impossible now

DizzyBinterWonderland · 15/12/2006 11:41

i liked that the site was really really basic. much nicer than those other frig diggidy forums with all kinds of bows and twinkly bits everywhere.

i don't think we want 'visual flair'

sandcastlesforanaussiexmas · 15/12/2006 11:41

wos going on?????

cardy · 15/12/2006 11:41

People are so upset about this is because the key thing about websites are their user-friendliness, and this isn't as user-friendly as it used to be.

myrrhthamoo · 15/12/2006 11:42

Still have to scroll in Firefox.

Haven't time to read the who thread but whose idea was this?

I'm not just knee-jerkily saying I don't like anything new...it really isn't at all user friendly.

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 15/12/2006 11:42

Who am I?

ThrockenAroundTheChristmasTree · 15/12/2006 11:43

is it just me - the text is no longer fitting on my browser - I am having to scroll left and tight all the time to read the thread.

And oddly I have a headache now after wading through this thread.

nutcracker · 15/12/2006 11:43

OMG it is awful, haven't stopped frowning since I got on.

Can't find anything about it that is better.

DizzyBinterWonderland · 15/12/2006 11:43

yes how come some threads are spreading across to the right please?

MistletoeandPebblemum · 15/12/2006 11:43

Im another who doesnt like it. Came on here earlier to post a message saw the change and decided to try again in the hope that after a few hours it would be back to normal, obviously not.

To me it seems all squashed and horrible and having to scroll across just to read the messages is very annoying. Im all for change when it improves things but this is just horrible.

Before joining Mnet i looked at quite a few similar ones but to me MNet stuck out above the rest because it was more user friendly, it was easy to find things, it wasnt too commercialised and it had a nice clear layout. All the others took a while to navigate around and get used to but with Mnet i felt comfortable and at home right from the start.

Please change it back, this is not the Mnet we have all grown to love.

myrrhthamoo · 15/12/2006 11:43

Actually, sorry - I don't have to scroll side to side in Firefox so it is marginally better.

JustineMumsnet · 15/12/2006 11:43

Copied from other thread "Alright so change is not for everyone, we'll concede that!":
Ok here's the plan.
Now you mention it, we think you've all got a point about the wasted space on the left hand side of the screen (the beige bar)
so we will go back to our lovely designer (plse God she's not been reading this morning) and ask her to have ago at moving that navigation across the top of the page, so it's more like things were before and so there's more width for talk.

We will also continue to play with fonts, colours, spacing and hues until we silence (or at the very least quieten) the hue and cry...

Many thanks, as ever, for your input.
MN Towers

katierocket · 15/12/2006 11:43

I think you're all mad. It's really not that bad.

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 15/12/2006 11:44

Who are you?

katierocket · 15/12/2006 11:44

"Actually, sorry - I don't have to scroll side to side in Firefox so it is marginally better."

I do moo - not that it bothers me.

JanH · 15/12/2006 11:44

side-to-side scrolling has been fixed again!

CouldEquallyHaveBeenAnAardvark · 15/12/2006 11:45

I hope she has been reading this morning, actually.

But I'm like that. A confrontational aardvark.

NAB3 · 15/12/2006 11:45

Don't like it either! Found the previous one hard enough and kept missing things.
