We’d like your help testing a new release of the Mumsnet Talk App 3.0 (beta).

This app is for iPhones and iPads on iOS8 only at the moment.

We'd love it if you can give the app a good workout - using it as you normally do - to read and post in Talk. please do bear in mind that the app is still in beta version, so some things may not work perfectly. We have made a few changes since our last test release.

You can use any email address to sign up.
You need to be logged in to sign up. (If you can't see the sign up page, make sure you are logged in.)
It is LIVE. Any posts you make will be seen on the Mumsnet site for all to see. We'll send you an invitation to download the app (it will arrive via the TestFlight service).

Talk app users

This app will replace the current Talk app (2.1) on your phone if you have it.

Recent beta Talk app testers (Testflight 1.0)

If you have been involved in recent app testing, you will end up with two app icons (1.0 & 3.0) on your device. You can uninstall the previous beta app (it will stop working this week).
If you previously signed up for this - but didn't accept & download the app - you will need to sign up again.

I think I like it.....

However the login screen didn't have all the characters on it I needed for my email address so I had to use my login name to log in, lucky it had all the characters for that! It was underscore that was missing.

And a BIG one for me, you can't do the iPad thing and make the text bigger, so I struggle to read it.

Much prefer it to the old ap though which I never could get along with. Like the smiley and the text option buttons too!

There is a MY TOPICS now!

Go to topics and select the star against your fav topics. Starred topics are then listed under My Favourites at the top.

So there is. And you can even remove topics from it if you want!

Now all they have to do is put a link to the bottom bar (a 'star' perhaps?) and my day would be almost complete. ('Almost' because the refreshing stil isn't working right for me.)

That's a fair point about the text sizing, mermaidbutmytailfelloff. I hadn't noticed because the letters are just about big enough for me anyway but I can see that it might cause some people difficulty. I'm guessing there's some technical reason for it?

The only thing I don't like is the speech bubble things with the posters name, it kind of feels like something is missing to differentiate between posters

simurgh - forgive me if I'm stating the obvious but are you trying to refresh when you are midway through a thread? You have to be either at the bottom on the top of the page to be able to refresh otherwise when you drag down it won't work. Also, you need to be dragging on the white background where everyone is posting rather than on the top coloured bar if you see what I mean.

I'm in! I like it so far - am liking the photos best since I always had to swap to the mobile site to see any on the last app.

I've just seen that the name of OP is a different colour. Not quite enough contrast/stand out for my liking.

I sometimes ignore all replies and just read OP updates. misses entire point of Mumnsnet Talk

Agree zombie, no PMs is irritating. I did feed that back in the last user survey that came round. I would hope they add it to the spec of future releases.

It took me a while to work out how to bookmark!

I tried posting with a smiley in the middle of a post, last night. Getting back to the keyboard was a nightmare. I can't even work out exactly how I did it, in the end.

I got confused the first couple of times too but it's great having all those options at just a tap. just a matter of getting used to some new ways.

Wow. I love it!! So easy to do what I want to do (active threads, threads I'm on, threads I'm watching, look though the topics) and I love being able to chose the colour. Love the clean look and being able to edit my posts in the box. Very easy to start a new thread too.

I can't work out to do a search. Maybe I'm missing something?

Most of my mumsnetting is done in the dark while feeding baby back to sleep. I would LOVE it if there could be an extra dim "night mode" with less blue light.

The text size is dynamic based on your iPhone settings. Display & Brightness -> Text size
Don't know if that's the same on an iPad.
