She delivered her baby at 28 weeks-ish ... I can't find her thread to see how her and baby are doing :( I posted on it, but can't see it in 'im on' and when I do a search it looks like it might have been deleted?

Can't stop thinking about this lady bless her! Can anyone help?

Have never watched OBEM.

Just watched that episode now. What a gorgeous little boy Ollie was. My heart goes out to you nobbly. Flowers

AllThatGlistens · 31/07/2015 13:30

Oh god. Poor poor nobbly and her partner Sad

forago · 31/07/2015 13:45

poor young girl and the father. this has really bought a tear to my hardened eyes after watching the episode last night. What happened to them was awful and if it had hapenned to me I think MN would have been the first place I would have looked for support. To think they just pulled a thread with possibly one curt email that she may not even ever have read with all that was going on, how sad. I agree the ultimate fault lies with the self-centered narcissistic weird trolls that have been making up BS about premature and dead babies in the whole 10 + years I have been on MN and had children. Despite that it's been a great help throughout my pregnancy, birth and young children years. To think this poor girl was denied that is heart breaking. I really hope MN reviews their troll detecting policies as a result of this.

Think I'd rather have to wade through the idiotic trolls, which lets face it most people can see through these days, if it means that genuine people aren't turned away. Surely there's a better way to check? With hospitals?

Toooldtobearsed · 31/07/2015 13:51

Thank you Rowan, an honest and dignified response.

There was clearly a terrible cock up this time, but no system is perfect and MN did what they thought was right at the time.

I truly hope that MN heard nothing from OP because she chose not to keep posting, her full attention being given to her son.

Very tragic, very sad.

bruffin · 31/07/2015 13:54

When we looked into nobblybobbly19, our back end systems flagged a connection to previously banned posters

Could it be that the troll was working in the same hospital, therefore using the same wifi/router which is why it was flagged up or that troll worked in the hospital picked up on the story and posted it as if it was happening to themselves.

seaoflove · 31/07/2015 14:13

I don't think speculation like this is helpful to be honest (especially speculation seeking to prove that nobbly was some sort of acquaintance retelling a true story): don't you realise how unlikely it all is?

bruffin · 31/07/2015 14:32

Truth is often stranger than fiction. I was wondering out loud why she was flagged up as a banned poster. Maybe MNHQ should try and contact the mother on OBEM directly to see if she was the poster ie through the programme makers rather than an email to was registered on MN.

No. I get where you're coming from but an " excuse me, I saw you suffered a tragic bereavement and just wondered if you could confirm whether you'd posted about the circumstances on MN?" just can't be worded right. If it wasn't her then omg what an awful message to receive and if it was her, the message to the mn-registered email would work.

I think we accept MN got it wrong (for understandable reasons) and not read anything more into it.

I watched that last night and thought of that thread Sad so, so sorry for Ollie's mum and dad.

CilkieWallins · 31/07/2015 17:23

Just another voice adding to those sending their thoughts to the family-your son was beautiful Flowers

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 31/07/2015 17:35

I also wondered whether the mum on obem was the same lady who was posting on here. So sad for her and her partner.

HerRoyalNotness · 31/07/2015 17:46

I would auggest this thread is deleted so as not to cause any further heartache to nobbly if she decided to revisit the forum.

It's a crying shame that it was wrong and that many of us felt so angry.

lavendersun · 31/07/2015 18:24

Dreadful Sad.

Northernlurker · 31/07/2015 18:44

Hmmm I think though that we all complain bitterly when the forum is trolled - and it is trolled a lot. Equally though we like to be able to namechange at a drop of the hat. HQ have a very hard job to do. I don't blame them at all for thinking that if it posts like a troll and it's IP address is like a troll then it IS a troll. There are a lot of vulnerable posters who get heavily involved in threads such as this. If we want those posters protected - and I'm sure we do - then we need to accept the risk that sometimes they'll make a bad call. That risk is mitigated by the fact that HQ are relatively accessible and if a poster e-mails them they will get back to them. What's unfortunate about this situation is that if Nobbly was genuine she obviously won't have been in any state to argue the toss about her veracity. I don't think there's any need to hoik our bosoms and declare disgust at HQ's reasonable actions.

Me too Dixie, I had a similar experience and posted on Nobbly's thread because I hung on for 10 weeks, making it to 29 weeks. In the beginning I thought it might give her hope.

I have to say that 'troll' rarely enters my head, I was genuinely shocked. Just not on my radar, but the topics I post on are things like camping, arts and crafts, extra curricular activities .... not really troll material.

I thought Nobbly seemed very naive and vulnerable and couldn't believe it when the thread was pulled, unlike the other woman with twins, disabled children, busy husband, birthdays, pregnant again (or did I dream that bit). I thought she was going to announce a lotto win next it was so very unbelievable.

I wish Nobbly and her DP well.

I actually went back through some of her old threads. She claimed to have two singletons, then a set of twins, then another set of twins (premature, SN), then a premature singleton, and THEN was pregnant again within weeks. She also claimed to be either breastfeeding of expressing milk for all of them. The names were frigging ridiculous as well - goodness knows how she wasn't rumbled earlier Hmm

lavendersun · 31/07/2015 22:17

Oddly, I didn't post on the multiples thread, not sure why, I just didn't feel that I wanted to get 'involved'.

I am old enough to be Nobbly's mother and just felt that she needed support albeit from random strangers on the internet.

SunflowerSmile · 01/08/2015 13:06

I feel so saddened for Nobbly and her bub. I am glad that those who invested their kindness found out it was directed to someone who really needed it. I hope Nobbly has received support during this time.
