Please can we just ban the following from MN? <unreasonableness alert>

The following words:

hubby
chavvy/chav
aunt flo
plasma screen TV in any context other than a geeky one.

Starring would be acceptable. You could make it opt in so the huns can get on with it and I don't have to cry "my eyes! my eyes!" every 40 minutes.

Threads about the following:

Benefit bashing Or at least put a warning on the thread titles like BIGOT in big red letters. Possibly flashing. I feel this could be one use of a ticker I could support.

Posters:

Who cannot read a thread properly due to being a lazy arse

Who are hard of thinking

Who are determined to take great offence at what others post regardless of the actual intent of the poster

Who don't say thank you when someone takes the time to give advice

I'm sure there is more. I'm sure others have more. Please MNHQ can you just take a metaphorical red pen to the whole lot?

Can someone help me?

I seriously feel that I may actually pick up an actual gun and start shooting.

Hully. You cannot argue with a fool or a drunk. There are mean spirited people all over. But many many nice people are posting valiantly. It isn't all bleak. And the lords said a big old fuck off..

KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 10:27

What's happened Hully?

OP posts:
KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 10:28

Do I need to revive the safe space?

OP posts:
Pagwatch · 24/01/2012 10:29

Katie - Hully is trying to explain why the £26,000 benefits cap hurts many vulnerable people but it is proving a challenge. On about 50 squillion threads.

Pagwatch · 24/01/2012 10:30

See is trying to create a version of violent PARD .
It is a fine balance of polite discussion but with weaponry

Pagwatch · 24/01/2012 10:31

she
(hully. Not the cats mother)

KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 10:31

Are yes then we need the safe space back. The old one had got a bit bogged down in organising blogs and stuff.

OP posts:
Hullygully · 24/01/2012 10:35

I can't bear how THICK and HORRID and GLOATING they are.

Although I begin to understand the rise of Nazi Germany.

These people WANT to believe in it. They want to believe that there are scroungers and ne'er-do-wells out there that need stamping on. Somehow this makes them feel better, and also seems to make them feel that it would make their own lives better. But it won't, obviously. Wilful blindness.

Poor people=Jews on MN today.

Hullygully · 24/01/2012 10:38

Shall I start a thread about it?

As a variant from shooting?

Pagwatch · 24/01/2012 10:39

that's the thing Hully, they want to believe it.
They want to feel superior, they enjoy it. They want others to get pushed down. It happens all the time.

It's immigrants, disabled people, people on benefits. They think anything designed to help those groups somehow diminishes them.
It's grim

ValarMorghulis · 24/01/2012 10:39

Ban anyone that fails to understand that the concept of a debate is to state your opinion, listen to the opposition, rethink your position and then come back with what you now think based on the new information. It is ok if it is the same as before, so long as the information has been considered.

I have stumbled across a great many who feel they should shout that anyone on benefits is a scrounger, will have 400 posts explaining why that isn't true just to come back and say "yes but all benefit claimants are scroungers"

head. wall. bang

Pagwatch · 24/01/2012 10:40

Grin I think most alternatives to actual shooting are good.

Hullygully · 24/01/2012 10:41

They are the "I just think"-ers

Impervious to reason because they "just think"

Hullygully · 24/01/2012 10:42

What about a bit of light disembowelling?

KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 10:42

Quite agree VM.

Hully if you start a "I'm not quite a frothing berserker" type thread I will drop in with my placard.

Hully, Hully, Hully.

It's not all dark - There's LOTS of us shouting about it - don't give up!

Hullygully · 24/01/2012 10:43

I want to start one about Nazis and Jews.

I think it will go well.

KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 10:44

Erm...

OP posts:
Hullygully · 24/01/2012 10:44

Oh I know Shirley darlin,' it's just SO frustrating - and I think you're right, we will discover all sorts about all sorts of people we previously considered Good Eggs

I just ate a nasty dried up bun.

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 24/01/2012 10:49

It is frustrating I know.

I'm going to start a thread - I'm going to call it something really lovely.

Pagwatch · 24/01/2012 10:51

Oooh start a lovely thread.
I have some nice pagboy stuff. I love excuses to post about him because he is the living embodiment of lovely.
