Please can we just ban the following from MN? <unreasonableness alert>

The following words:

hubby
chavvy/chav
aunt flo
plasma screen TV in any context other than a geeky one.

Starring would be acceptable. You could make it opt in so the huns can get on with it and I don't have to cry "my eyes! my eyes!" every 40 minutes.

Threads about the following:

Benefit bashing Or at least put a warning on the thread titles like BIGOT in big red letters. Possibly flashing. I feel this could be one use of a ticker I could support.

Posters:

Who cannot read a thread properly due to being a lazy arse

Who are hard of thinking

Who are determined to take great offence at what others post regardless of the actual intent of the poster

Who don't say thank you when someone takes the time to give advice

I'm sure there is more. I'm sure others have more. Please MNHQ can you just take a metaphorical red pen to the whole lot?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/01/2012 21:14

Mare-ease.

Even.

its pronounced dan-ear-is tar-gary-an but the gary is pronounced like lair-ey.
although whilst reading the books the character is in I also pron like dan-er-reece as I think it sounds nicer :)

mar-ease is how I was pron your name although I will now say the zed instead seeing as you have shown such interest in how to say my name :)

also, anyone who wants to is free to call me MrsRB if they prefer, I may go back to that name at some point anyway.

I now would like to know what the zed stands for though please

I am actually going to have to read A Clash of Kings now. I was trying to focus on books I need for uni, reviewing or politics. It is not any of those and it is HUGE.

When I fail my degree it will be your fault.

DaenerysTargaryenButCallMeDany · 24/01/2012 21:49

I'm just about to start A Clash Of Kings for the second time myself, I'm reading them all through again before I buy A Dance With Dragons.

i'm sorry for your uni work Blush I've just introduced the series to my dbro who is also supposed to be studying at uni so I'm responsible for his failings now also.

It weighs heavily on my heart but they are such good books! Wink

A Game Of Thrones is the first one so you wanna get that before A Clash Of Kings, there are 5 so far (although one has two parts so 6 books really) and two more in the making and yes they are very addictive

I can't believe you've never name changed!

its actually A Dance With Dragons but yes that is correct. I hope you have nothing important to do in the near future.

DaenerysTargaryenButCallMeDany · 24/01/2012 22:57

yes, I'm wanting it in paperback to go with the rest of my collection which is why i'm putting off buying it but i'm not gonna last much longer!

Grin @ buying them for yourself! You may as well, you'll only be forever wondering what happened.

Just remember, housework first, Game Of Thrones after! (Thats where I go wrong)

SenseofEntitlement · 24/01/2012 23:19

I saw the TV adaptation of Game of Thrones, then got the book, and it was brilliant! Even though I knew what would happen, the book added in so many extra elements that it even improved my enjoyment of Sean Bean saying "WINTER. IS. COMING." and looking gruff.

Of course, living in the North, right next to the wall, we know it's all about Geordies really :)

KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 23:20

Bloody thread hijackers! I'd ban you alll!

Except you look like you're having such fun. I have no idea what you're on about mind :)

KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 23:27

That's very kind of you all. Obviously as no one has been along everyone agrees with me.

OP posts:
SenseofEntitlement · 24/01/2012 23:42

I've not read the others, but A Clash of Kings is sat over there on my bookshelf, enticing me... I kind of got sucked into the first one and neglected reality a bit :) So I'm wary of starting another...
