Would it be considered Sad if I purchased one of those old woman shopping trolleys?

In Barcelona you see young people wheeling their little oldwoman shopping trolley things around all over the place, but would I get funny looks if I bought one to use here?

It would be so handy for shopping at the market

OH No please don't.

charliecat · 21/10/2004 16:55

Cant you get one of those funkier looking suitcase thingys?

MissusWoman · 21/10/2004 16:55

would it really be considered sad? they are so practical

I think you could start a trend, I really do. It will be so much better for your posture etc and perhaps you could decorate it in some way so that it looks like those new trendy wellies that we were talking about the other day. Go for it! I might get one too.

MissusWoman · 21/10/2004 16:56

good idea mckenzie!

Not sad as such just a bit embarrasing, but then again you might start a new trend

lou33 · 21/10/2004 16:57

i would never speak to you again if you bought one mw.

MissusWoman · 21/10/2004 16:57

well as i say there were loads of cool young people using them in barcelona

hee hee. Go for it, MissusWoman. You're only as sad as you feel. I take my radio flyer shopping most weeks. My kids travel in it on the way there and the shopping travels in it on the way back.

agy · 21/10/2004 16:58

I'm sure I've seen a young looking person round here with one. Carrying heavy bags isn't good for women, is it? Does it matter what it looks like anyway?!

acer · 21/10/2004 16:58

What's a radio flyer scummymummy?

lou33 · 21/10/2004 16:59

I guess you don't mind me shunning you then. Your dp would think you were turning into his mum!

MissusWoman · 21/10/2004 17:00

so you would shun me for trying to avoid a bad back then lou?

OP posts:
lou33 · 21/10/2004 17:02

no no not at all. I'd shun you for looking an arse

MissusWoman · 21/10/2004 17:03

you should've seen the gorgeous young mayans wheeling their sholleys about in barca though

jampot · 21/10/2004 17:11

Shopping trolleys have been a trend in Lunun for a while now (couple of years). Lots of fashionable young things here have shopping trollies (oh, and me!). I've got a purple rollser which I use mostly at Xmas and couldn't get the Xmas shopping done without it, its an absolute godsend.

lou33 · 21/10/2004 17:13

I'm sorry but I don't care if they are the in thing, they are ROTTEN.

Shudders at memory of being forced to haul my mum's about as a kid.

snmum · 21/10/2004 17:14

I am buying one! i have to take a sewing machine on a collge course, by bus, so i thought they are quite okay now arent they? or am I just getting old i saw oine that has a fold down seat on the side of it, heheheh

nasa · 21/10/2004 17:17

I saw a trendy young thing in manchester the other day with one - I was confused and then realised how old and out of touch I must be!

Davros · 21/10/2004 17:18

I've seen lots of Japanese trendy things Up West with them for the last couple of years and other young 'uns. There was a thread about it on here ages ago.....

lou33 · 21/10/2004 17:20

wanders off shaking head, muttering about how taste and standards have declined.....

ScummyMummy · 21/10/2004 17:20

One of these , acer. My kids are less chocolate boxy (and more gorgeous, IMO) though.

suedonim · 21/10/2004 17:21

How about this trolley ? Mind you, it's a bit pricey for transporting a loaf of bread and a couple tins of beans from Tesco!!
