Would it be considered Sad if I purchased one of those old woman shopping trolleys?

In Barcelona you see young people wheeling their little oldwoman shopping trolley things around all over the place, but would I get funny looks if I bought one to use here?

It would be so handy for shopping at the market

Grin

mine is glowering at me from its spot next to the front door

wickedwinterwitch · 09/12/2004 14:50

Thought of you spacedonkey and really wanted one of these as I struggled with laptop, bags, files etc at the airport recently. Smug woman walking next to me told me she got her silver one from Matalan!

NomDePlumPudding · 09/12/2004 14:58

Just read this whole thread and almost fouled myself with laughter. V V V V funny !

BTW, spacemonkey/donkey looks nothing like I expected. Who took the photo for you, sm ?!

my mum

trouble is she's a bit of a technophobe so i was standing there for about half an hour while she wrestled with my camera phone (hence wooden expression)

PMSL NDP. If you do find yourself "fouling" yourself think how much clean-up equipment you could keep in a handy shopping trolley Grin

How cute are \link{http://www.ollieandnic.com/Frameset.htm\these trolleys

jojo28 · 09/12/2004 18:48

\link{http://www.ollieandnic.com/Frameset.htm\cute trolleys} Sorry I am a moron who does not deserve a cute hipster trolley and will be picking up my big tartan number from Robert Dyas tomorrow along with my Kanga incontinence pants.

lulupop · 09/12/2004 19:06

PMSL at the Kanga pants Jojo Grin

those trolleys are v cute, I agree. just one thing though; how does one manage a buggy and a shopping trolley?

jojo28 · 09/12/2004 22:54

lulupop you need help \link{http://www.flemingmedical.ie/hybrand.htm\help}! As for managing shopping trolly and buggy I really have no idea just relieved to be talking about something other than E3's over M&P's Pliko and the Grin ideal christmas stocking for a toddler.

MarsselectionboxLady · 09/12/2004 23:14

I have and am very proud of my cow print Rolser. Don't use it much at the moment because of the DTs and pushing their pram. I love my trolley. Grin

Davrosthesnowwoman · 10/12/2004 09:09

Cow print! I'm jealous, don't think they had that when I first set the trend Grin
If you've got a buggy you don't need a trolley, its functions as the same thing, oh and you can put a kid in the buggy too...

MarsselectionboxLady · 10/12/2004 17:03

I was one of the original scoffers. I was given my trolley by friends for my birthday a few years ago. I love it and wouldn't trade it for anything (well maybe Taye Diggs Wink)

wilbur · 10/12/2004 17:10

You cna get some quite funky ones now. I used to have to carry a lot of reading material for work and I walked to the office and I used one sometimes and it was great. Got a few funny looks, but I am still thinking of getting another one for trips to the market which is an easy walk from my house, but not so easy back again with sacks of fruit and veg.

YORK · 10/12/2004 17:26

Well all I will say on the matter is that I did some xmas shopping last week and an old woman ended up helping me with my bags Blush I sat on the train and thought I could really do with one of those shopping trolley bags!

MarsselectionboxLady · 10/12/2004 17:27

I think that you should treat yourself to one for Christmas York. Join the trolley lovers club. Grin

YORK · 10/12/2004 17:30

I think I will and after that I shall help Davros set up the MN Trolley meet up!

MarsselectionboxLady · 10/12/2004 17:31

Do we have to wear co-ordinating outfits? Wink

YORK · 10/12/2004 17:48

Your bag should always match your outfit! I 'm sure that's what trinny and sus say! sorry in delay just had baked beans thrown at me by 14 m dd!

SantaFio2 · 10/12/2004 17:50

so shall keep the one i bought for me gran?:o

YORK · 10/12/2004 17:55

I think so or get another! Seriously though I am going to get one for xmas now I know that people, well some people won't laugh at me. I hope everyone else does the same.

joashiningstar · 10/12/2004 18:00

Go for it!! Be confident in your ability to carry it off and you never know, you might set a fashion trend.

YORK · 10/12/2004 18:06

Let's do it everyone Grin I shall take it upon myself to reasearch the effectivness and reaction from the amazing shopping trolley bag after xmas. Watch this space! I wonder how many packs of nappies you could fit in one?

JaNgLyBELLS · 10/12/2004 18:17

I've got one. Dd gave it to me for my birthday (Grin). The only prob with it is it sooo noisy! People turn round to see what's coming. So, try to find a quiet one perhaps?

Davrosthesnowwoman · 10/12/2004 19:13

Best make sure no Trolls turn up to the trolley meet-up!! Mine will be coming out next week for last Xmas shopping and then fulltime once DD is out of her buggy.
