Would it be considered Sad if I purchased one of those old woman shopping trolleys?

In Barcelona you see young people wheeling their little oldwoman shopping trolley things around all over the place, but would I get funny looks if I bought one to use here?

It would be so handy for shopping at the market

Good luck out there.

lou33 · 22/10/2004 14:43

I don't think it was the bag they were referring too mw .....

Still you will probably find everyone moving out of your way sharpish, so no queueing.

Enid · 22/10/2004 14:48

I used to have one when I was a bright young thing in London, having to carry lots of stuff for photo shoots etc. Could get away with it then as obviously the whole thing was 'ironic' - if I had one now I would look as though I really meant it

lou33 · 22/10/2004 14:51

That is what concerns me about mw, she is no longer in her first flush of youth you know

lou33 · 22/10/2004 14:51

I have told her they are for under 23's and over 50's but will she listen?

iota · 22/10/2004 15:03

perhaps she should just nick a wire shopping trolley from the local supermarket and use that - she might look like a bag lady though

monkey · 22/10/2004 15:07

I'm getting one the minute 7 ditch the pushchair. would be tempted to get one with seat, but dunno if dh would let me go that far. i ain't gonna kill myself over a bag of shopping & I'm not giving up drinking booze, which inconveniently weighs a ton.

go for it missuswoman!

iota · 22/10/2004 15:08

you can get more booze in a big Tescos trolley than one of those old lady shoppers

Tortington · 22/10/2004 15:12

if you are gong to have one it should be as outragous as poss.

if people are gonna look at you - give em something to look at.

i really really liked the dj bag

i cant believe people carry their pets in one - how very geri halliwell

iota · 22/10/2004 15:14

custardo - perhaps a christmas theme - with tinsel, baubles, glitter etc?

Tortington · 22/10/2004 15:35

yes definatley - some spray on snow here and there

monkey · 22/10/2004 16:08

yeah, but iota, can you imagine the looks pushing a tesco trolley full of booze up the hill?

iota · 22/10/2004 16:09

party at your house monkey?

iota · 22/10/2004 16:10

so the choice is Tesco's trolley or funky outrageous old lady shopping trolley

lou33 · 22/10/2004 16:12

She just sent me a picture on my phone with her using her ds's trolley!

I hope she is stocking up on booze in preparation for my impending visit.

iota · 22/10/2004 16:13

post it on the net lou and give us a laugh

lou33 · 22/10/2004 16:14

she might rescind my invitation then!

iota · 22/10/2004 16:15

don't tell her

lou33 · 22/10/2004 16:17

OMG she just called me to say that it is actually the one she bought just now!

lou33 · 22/10/2004 16:18

she accosted an old lady to ask where she got her trolley from!

iota · 22/10/2004 16:18

get out the glitter, baubles and spray snow, for your visit tonight

lou33 · 22/10/2004 16:19

She says she has had some funny remarks, but it is a boon to the busy housewife

iota · 22/10/2004 16:21

watch out lou - she'll be taking it to the pub with you next

DelGirl · 22/10/2004 16:53

You could take it with you to Cuba Libra and see what your young mayann thinks of it
