Would it be considered Sad if I purchased one of those old woman shopping trolleys?

In Barcelona you see young people wheeling their little oldwoman shopping trolley things around all over the place, but would I get funny looks if I bought one to use here?

It would be so handy for shopping at the market

I saw a woman yesterday wheeling one around that had a massive bling bling gold picture frame around it that she had obviously installed as a permanent fixture, but then, I do live in London...

snmum · 22/10/2004 07:45

MW, those sewing machine bags are would much prefer a trolley bag wotsit

OMG I have just twigged!

smellymelly · 22/10/2004 09:02

My initial reaction was - NO!

But I wish these were trendy as I need one when I don't have a pushchair to hang my shopping on.

As someone who is suffering from severe SPD at the moment, a 2nd hand motorised disability scooter I saw the other day looked so inviting!!

hewlettsdaughter · 22/10/2004 09:25

there's a plain black one here

hewlettsdaughter · 22/10/2004 09:28

snmum, what have you just twigged?

codswallop · 22/10/2004 09:28

cant believb this ius up to 8- posts! will it make the hime page!

JuniperDewdrop · 22/10/2004 09:29

This is something that I've been thinking about for ages. I wish they were made in trendy designs as school kids would benefit enourmously from them. So many get bad backs nowadays from all the books etc.. they have to carry.
I got my MIL a brill one that folds up from USA that I wouldn't feel embarassed using. They're a fab idea for anyone like me who carries her shopping bags home.

Maybe we should start a shopping trolley campaign Missuswoman??

lou33 · 22/10/2004 09:31

Juniper, don't encourage her!

misdee · 22/10/2004 09:35

missuswomen, get one if u want one

and with reagrds to dj's using them i'm not surprised. trying to carry a box of 50+ records to play a set is killer on your back. worse than carrying shopping imo.

JuniperDewdrop · 22/10/2004 09:39

Do you have transport missuswoman? I don't unless I wait for dh coming home do my shopping.

lou33 · 22/10/2004 09:39

Misdee, I bet dj's wouldn't use them in their non working days though

misdee · 22/10/2004 09:40

i'd use one still, but dh is currently selling his records off, and i seem to be the one posting them out. tho they do fit neatly under the 3 wheeler.

but the boxes would be better for sitting on for a rest than the bags.

MissusWoman · 22/10/2004 11:10

I don't care if I'm sad, I'm getting one!

MrsDoolittle · 22/10/2004 11:29

This would be very very sad

MissusWoman · 22/10/2004 11:30

I will co-ordinate my trolley with a tartan tam o shanter hat and tabard

OP posts:
bonniej · 22/10/2004 11:31

You need to get one of those plastic rain hats to wear with it. You'd really look the part then

lou33 · 22/10/2004 11:50

And worn out slippers , with fake fur around the foot hole, accompanied by sagging support stockings and a grumpy attitude.

lou33 · 22/10/2004 11:50

I forgot the matching cummerbund.

bonniej · 22/10/2004 11:52

what's a cumerbund? (excuse me if i'm being thick )

MissusWoman · 22/10/2004 12:29

I'm going down to the market in a minute and am considering using ds's trolley rucksack to transport my veg. However I am worried that people will think me a potential fascist as said rucksack is emblazoned with the word "England" (ds being a football fanatic)

OP posts:
JuniperDewdrop · 22/10/2004 12:35

Yay!!!!!! you're getting one, good for you

lou33 · 22/10/2004 14:26

cummerbund

She isn't going to get one, she's going to get her fruit and veg!

MissusWoman · 22/10/2004 14:26

I just walked around the living room with the potentially fascist trolley bag and my kids said I looked weird

OP posts:
ScummyMummy · 22/10/2004 14:28

Guffaw, as you would say. Can you paint it or something?

MissusWoman · 22/10/2004 14:29

my mum suggested i could pretend to be foreign
