Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

Good idea @runningpink I need a serious boot up the jacksi

shouldistop · 06/09/2021 20:07

Checking in. I've lost 6lbs in the past week but that's mainly because I had that bug. It's given me a boost to keep it off / lose more though.
So I'm doing 16:8, ashtanga yoga twice a week which is a real work out and swimming once a week.
I'd love to lose another 6/7lbs by Christmas.

WouldBeGood · 06/09/2021 20:15

Fat oldster checking in

mapleleavesreturn · 06/09/2021 20:36

Checking in. Must do some exercise!

runningpink · 06/09/2021 20:40

Welcome all!

I have drank lots of water, done lots of exercise and actually stayed under my calories today.

Oh and the ice pole trick worked at feeling like I was having a treat

I probably need to lose a stone as a minimum. I won’t stand on the scales but I think I might take my measurement tomorrow as a base to see any differences

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 06/09/2021 21:28

I need to lose loads. I find it easier to be dedicated to exercise than diet though.
I will try to fit some exercise in tomorrow though I find it tricky on a work day.

Tomorrowisanewday · 06/09/2021 21:33

What's the ice pole trick , runningpink?

WouldBeGood · 06/09/2021 21:43

I also saw in my Tesco mag a snack of roasted halved figs with a drizzle of honey - a nice sweet treat

traintraveller · 07/09/2021 06:56

Can I join? I've got 3 weeks until my fitting for a wedding dress I bought pre lockdown. I've been low carbing, running and doing emi wong on YouTube but it's so bloody slow to work. I'll never get into the dress Blush

shouldistop · 07/09/2021 08:18

@traintraveller congrats on your upcoming wedding. How much do you think you need to lose to fit in the dress?

traintraveller · 07/09/2021 08:34

shouldistop I can't get the dress fastened by myself so I don't really know. I don't think it'll be much as I can get into the jeans I wore the day I bought it and they have no give in them. I'm hoping an inch or two from my middle and boobs will do it Hmm

janeygodless · 07/09/2021 08:53

I think you'll be fine with the low carb @traintraveller

For those of you who do 16:8 do you drink tea/coffee before you break your fast?

shouldistop · 07/09/2021 09:16

@traintraveller I bet you'll be fine is there anyone who can come round to help you with it and let you know how far off you are?

@janeygodless I do have a cup of tea with a bit of milk in it so not strictly fasting, I'm only doing it for an easy way to control calories though.

runningpink · 07/09/2021 09:32

@Tomorrowisanewday someone on the guilt free thread suggested ice poles/lollies to have when I’m craving sugar as a low calorie alternative.
It done the trick yesterday

runningpink · 07/09/2021 09:34

Good luck @traintraveller!
I agree get someone round to see how much you need to lose to get the dress fitted properly.

Drink lots of water as well

I lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago but unfortunately let it creep back on. I started lock down 40lbs up on what I was at my lowest (well lowest since I started measuring, I started as a very skinny adult but I'll never get back there again!). I've lost 23 pounds since lock down started, it's been a bit up and down and I really only weigh about once a month or when I feel inspired.

Weight loss before was mainly myfitnesspal calorie counting and latterly doing 16/8.

I'm not counting really at the moment but I have cut portions and trying not to eat so much crap. Its me on the ice-lollies. I just buy the ones where you get a box for a pound type. Definitely not eating so much chocolate.

My issue is that I'm not doing any enough exercise. I have no excuse other than lack of motivation. My phone shouts at me daily for not doing any. Steps are generally under 2k on a good day.

I only have about 5lbs until I'm in normal weight bmi but I'd like to get at least another stone. Whilst losing a pound or so a month feels more sustainable, it does mean I'll be looking at Christmas 2022 at this rate!

I'm thinking that I should maybe just make a better effort at the calories and 16/8 and see if I can get rid quicker. Exercise is probably required though.

Good luck to everyone trying!

shouldistop · 07/09/2021 10:54

@ElephantOfRisk 23lbs is amazing, well done to you.

My eating hours are 9.30-5.30 so I'm not skipping breakfast. Having 3 meals. Previously I was having 2 breakfasts though Blush and eating a dessert in the evening so I reckon I'm cutting out a lot of calories.

So far I've eaten a bowl of porridge & an apply for breakfast, lunch will be left over bolognese and I'm not sure about dinner yet.

shouldistop · 07/09/2021 10:59

Apple*

Ladylunchalot · 07/09/2021 19:05

Can I please join in? Really trying to watch what I'm eating and trying my best to make healthier swaps. Have lost 2kg in 2 weeks, only a billion to go Grin

I've upped my exercise but think I may have overdone it at the gym earlier as I've burst a blood vessel in my left eye Confused

ElephantOfRisk · 07/09/2021 19:30

Oh my @Ladylunchalot please don't kill yourself with overdoing it!

I've had a pretty stressy day today so haven't been great. Stayed in bed until 9.45 (be back at work in a couple of days so wanted to get a long lie under my belt), was really hungry when i got up so have a small bowl of cornflakes and a glass of pomegranate juice. Had a ham sandwich, a high protein yoghurt and a pile of blueberries for lunch, then I had a meeting about my return to work so since then i've had a couple of satsumas, a peach, an icelolly, turkey meatballs with pepper sauce and mash and peas and carrots, a bag of wotsits, a brunch bar and a cornetto - and I don't feel finished yet....oh dear!

Nothing hugely bad but just not all in the space of 3 hours...

traintraveller · 07/09/2021 19:47

Thanks everyone, I'll see if I get someone round to see how the dress fits. Hopefully it'll be fine and if not surely they can let it out a bit.
Ladylunchalot that's sounds nasty, I hope you're OK.
What are you all aiming for? Weight loss/ exercise/ trying to get over lockdown?

Ladylunchalot · 07/09/2021 19:54

Just a mix of everything. I do a martial art and my suit is getting snugger on me which restricts my movement. My own fault as I love sweet things. Just trying to eat better and up my exercise and hope that works.

janeygodless · 07/09/2021 19:59

I'd just like to go into a shop, try something on and feel half decent

mapleleavesreturn · 07/09/2021 20:12

Yeah to get up in the morning, put my jeans on and not have the feeling I'm at risk of busting a seam. And these are my vanity larger jeans too!

I have all the vices really, salty, sweet, bread, pasta, crisps, wine, gin...

Today was better than yesterday!

traintraveller · 07/09/2021 20:20

It's so difficult isn't it. I don't have a sweet tooth at all but I love crisps and cheese and pizza and wine...
