Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

I'm aiming for weight loss, had my second (and last) baby 9 months ago and need to sort myself out Grin for vanity reasons but also for health.
We had dinner at 4pm as we wanted to get out for a nice walk in the sunshine before the kids bath & bed. So I'm already feeling really hungry and can't eat til 9.30 tomorrow. Think I'll just go to bed soon!

Welcome everyone.

Iv had an ok ish day food wise. Iv been really hungry so have probably eaten more calories than I should have but have mostly avoided sugary things. I forgot to record my breakfast so didn’t bother the rest of the day! Oops!

I did do a lot of exercise yesterday so think that’s why iv been hungry today.

Lots of water, 19k steps and a fitness class this evening.

I do have some self control as I rarely get a takeaway, can drive past the likes of McDonalds easily, can take or leave alcohol. And if I buy chocolate for gifts I won’t touch it. I also won’t walk up to the wee shop for chocolate even if I’m craving it.

Just need to sort out the whole eating a full packet of biscuits or multiple chocolate bars at once type thing.

I'm the same runningpink I don't get a sudden urge to buy "bad" things and would never go the shop just for crisps but if I know they are in the cupboard they've got no chance!

ElephantOfRisk · 07/09/2021 20:56

It's the just wandering through and arriving back at my seat with something I had no intention of eating that mucks me up. I did for a while take all the snacks I was allowing myself for the day into my study but that didn't work. I ate them faster and then wasn't getting up to move about as well.

runningpink · 07/09/2021 20:59

I sometimes go up to bed early so I’m away from the kitchen! 😂

Look out for RebelFit on Facebook. I have stopped dieting, stopped hating my shape, stopped being negative, and am doing simple stretching exercises( have fibromyalgia). Refuse to weigh myself, but feel lighter and happier.

ElephantOfRisk · 07/09/2021 21:07

lighter and happier is good demented. I'm just happy if I can get something on that I'd been struggling to before. I could do without the pot belly tbh as I've never really been a belly weight person, that's what being older does for you! and I've had to rejig my wardrobe for that. Plus i still have a split in my stomach muscles from pregnancy that just never repaired and they seem to have completely to have given up the ghost now.

Bad eating and exercise day yesterday as I had work and dd over for tea.

Planning to be better today. Got combat this morning so that should wake me up!

shouldistop · 08/09/2021 09:52

@WouldBeGood fingers crossed you have a better day. I always think if you exercise in the morning you're more likely to eat healthily for the rest of the day.

I'm just having bran flakes and an apple just now. Lunch will be scrambled eggs and toast. We're all going for a swim at DL outdoor pool later so going to make up baguettes for our dinner to eat at the side.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 08/09/2021 13:46

Can I join in?

I've been slowly slowly losing weight this year. I'm sitting at 13st3, and have lost about 16 pounds.

I don't really have a sweet tooth so that's no big deal; I'm all about the crisps! What I've been doing is making huge pots of soup. Really nice soup. Hot and sour chicken is my fave, with noodles in. I don't eat breakfast, so just have coffee until noon, and I make one of my meals the soup. The other is just a normal meal. And I've sworn off crisps for the forseeable!

BroccoliFloret · 08/09/2021 14:30

Joining your thread if i'm allowed. I've piled on the pounds during lockdown, had my blood pressure taken today and its 129/79 which is a bit on the high side. Need to lose weight and start walking again.

WouldBeGood · 08/09/2021 14:49

Well done @BlameItOnTheBlackStar! That soup sounds good.. recipe?

ElephantOfRisk · 08/09/2021 15:20

Everybody welcome I think!

Soup is a good idea especially for all those with a savoury tooth :)

I'm not great with soups really as I'm not a fan of hot liquids. I do make a nice lentil, carrot and ham which probably doesn't qualify as liquid.. Grin DH would eat soup all day and everyday but it's often not worth making as it's only him that would eat most of them.

randomsabreuse · 08/09/2021 15:35

I should join this thread. My eating habits are my biggest issue because I stress eat. Was doing pretty well then hormones (day before and first day of period) made me hoover tonnes of caramelized nuts (wretched Lidl)!

My trick has been stocking up on the skinny whip mint bars which take the edge off the stress chocolate cravings which would otherwise get worse and then I'd crack and eat loads of chocolate bars.

Exercise is ok. Eating is not!

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 08/09/2021 15:37

Oh there's no recipe Grin

I just chuck in whatever veg I've got - usually mushrooms, onions, peppers, chopped tomatoes, etc, and some chicken.

Chicken stock, chill flakes, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce.

My thing is - it HAS to be really strongly flavoured. I am not a fan of broth, it's got to be a bit spicy, so I feel sort of satisfied when I'm done.

Oh also - stir an egg through it in strands just before you serve, for the extra protein.

WouldBeGood · 08/09/2021 17:18

That sounds great. Going to give that a go

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 08/09/2021 17:53

Go for it! It's really helped me. You can even sneak two bowls and feel stuffed and it doesn't have much fat or anything in it.

shouldistop · 08/09/2021 18:03

Had a chocolate caramel bar thing from M&S today, it wasn't even nice. Wish I'd saved that treat for something goodSad

traintraveller · 08/09/2021 18:12

I normally have wine and crisps on a Wednesday night, I'm swapping them for gin and slimline and Olives in a bid to pretend I'm healthy

WouldBeGood · 08/09/2021 18:33

DD and I are going to work up to a parkrun 😱

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 08/09/2021 18:35

That's great! I have done it once Grin and got intimidated by the people lapping me and completing in 24 minutes.

WouldBeGood · 08/09/2021 18:39

I did just check the times @BlameItOnTheBlackStar 🤣 I’m very very slow…

WouldBeGood · 08/09/2021 18:40

But the nearest one is flat!

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 08/09/2021 18:43

I'm slow too! DD and I are going to do it again soon but I think I'll aim to run 2 minutes/walk 2 minutes. The final bit is an uphill nightmare Grin and I really hate that there are so many people standing around watching. Applauding the slowest people, I find it exasperatingly patronising, although I know the intention behind it is good.
