Fiancé says he wishes I was dead

Hi everyone my fiance and I were arguing and he just came out with I hate you so much I wish you’d die. I was so shocked I didn’t know what to make of it. He said sorry and that he didn’t know what he was saying it was out of anger. He says horrible things when he gets angry then takes it back and says he loves me. Has anyone been through anything similar thanks in advance

Why are you with him?

FionnulaTheCooler · 23/07/2026 20:57

Please don't marry him. He's showing you who he really is.

Shedmistress · 23/07/2026 20:57

Nope, but if I had I'd make damn sure I didn't allow him to become a husband.

FairyBatman · 23/07/2026 20:57

Just leave. Anyone who loves you would never say that.

DaysIllRememberAllMyLife · 23/07/2026 20:57

He doesn't love you.

ilovemykindle · 23/07/2026 20:57

Dump him now it will only get worse

TeenToTwenties · 23/07/2026 20:57

My advice would be don't marry him.
Find someone who properly loves and respects you and can disagree more calmly.

readingmakesmehappy · 23/07/2026 20:58

Do not marry this man. In anger he’s showing you who he really is.

TheSlantedOwl · 23/07/2026 20:58

This is scary. You can’t trust someone who blurts out extreme things like that.

You have to end it.

bettyrubble99 · 23/07/2026 20:58

No because I don't stand for that sort of behaviour and neither should you.
DO NOT MARRY HIM Leave. That to me would be considered a threat. 💐💐

AnonymityAnonymity · 23/07/2026 20:59

That is an appalling thing to say to any one. And especially to the woman whom you are intending to marry.
Please end the relationship OP.

Funchythesnowwoman · 23/07/2026 20:59

Just end it.

kiwiane · 23/07/2026 20:59

Believe him and leave.

SowWhatNow · 23/07/2026 20:59

That's not what you say to someone you love and respect, in any situation.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 23/07/2026 20:59

Hi op I didn’t have a similar experience with my ex fiance and child’s father who would shower me with love one day and then act like he hated me the next. Spoiler alert it didn’t end well look at my user name.

It’s not ok or normal. Leave him please.

RoseField1 · 23/07/2026 21:00

Yes I've been through similar, it's called emotional abuse and you should leave him.

ElliePhant28 · 23/07/2026 21:01

If that’s what he’s like now, imagine after 5, 10, 15 years of marriage. Get out now! You know it’s not right or you wouldn’t be on here.

Blueuggboots · 23/07/2026 20:56

Why are you with him?

She will be trauma bonded. He’ll have convinced her she can’t do any better, and that this is all her fault for being so annoying and she’s lucky he’s putting up with her. She will be scared of being alone. She will be addicted to the high highs as he will be love bombing her on other days of the week. He will be charming and will have convinced her friends and family he is a good catch so they will all try and encourage her to work things out wit him.

I agree.
it will get ten times worse once you’re pregnant, speaking from experience.

never2return · 23/07/2026 21:02

Leave

This is not normal. My husband has never once raised his voice, called me a name or said anything out of order because he was angry. When angry you should discuss the issue.

I would leave someone who said that to me.

Iloveacurry · 23/07/2026 21:04

That’s really not a normal thing to say. You know what you need to do.

Beachbeach · 23/07/2026 21:04

It will only get worse. It will only go in one direction.

Minasama · 23/07/2026 21:05

This is not something that a fiance says. This is the pre-honeymoon bit that should be wonderful.

I’ve been married 20 years and my husband has never said anything like that!

I am afraid I would end this relationship, he sounds rather unhinged and you deserve better. Is he really charming and lovely when he’s not wishing you dead? That is also a big red flag.
