The Rules:

1.The first rule about the dating thread is don't talk about it with people you're dating.

  1. Develop a thick skin.
  2. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  3. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  4. Trust your gut instinct.
  5. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  6. Know your worth.
  7. If it's not fun, stop.
  8. Loo update is mandatory.

10. No dating the thread.
11. Treat others as you'd like to be treated
12. Any relationship you have that could get ruined by having a conversation about your feelings, standards and/or expectations wasn't really stable enough to begin with
13. The things you choose to ignore/ tolerate now are the reasons you will break up in the future
14. OLD can get very time consuming. Keep doing other activities you enjoy.

Optional: Please give your irons (potential dates you are talking to) nicknames like Mr Scottish. Initials are allowed (Mr S) when you are an item

Well 246 filled up quickly

My only update is I’m chatting to the one from 18 months ago who obviously doesn’t remember me but tbh we only chatted for a couple of days anyway.

He seems ok but a bit cringey - he uses words like indeedy and alrighty but I’m not giving up already. There’s a lot worse things I’ve dealt with on OLD than this 🤣

I read your update on the last thread. I'm really sorry mate. But at least you know where you're stand now. I think sometimes that low level anxiety is our body's way of telling us something is off.

Take a break then pick yourself back up. Onwards and upwards!

@Pepsimaxedout aww thank you!
I think that, had he not said anything, I would've been really upset going him tonight because today was just different... so I guess I am lucky. But I'm also absolutely gutted. We'd talked about doing lots of different things and now I just feel disappointed. It's hard when you get used to talking to someone and meeting up with them and then it's just over :(
But yes I think you're right. I think I sense something was off :(
Damn.... just last night I posted o was starting to feel the feelings 😢

I'm having a bit of a pity party for myself tonight. It's the first weekend in about a month I haven't had a date. I've got the kids all weekend so not been able to go out and do much socially either.

I'm going to ditch Mr D which I feel really shitty about because I do really like him. But I just feel like I am a lot keener than he is and I hate giving up my power/control. Can't think of a better way to describe it. But I just don't know how to word the message or when to send it. Might just rip the plaster off and do it tonight.

Still off the apps. A friend showed me bumble last night and it looks a lot more promising. So I'm going to get some nice photos taken and go on there in a couple of weeks I reckon.

Hi just checking in
My date with Mr ITW isn't happening now tonight, his daughter reminded him that they were going to watch a movie and have a few drinks together (which she had suggested at the start of the week before we chatted). He didn't want to say he was out as has been out a couple nights this week and she was already a bit suspicious about him coming round here Wednesday!
He only lives in the next street to me so he called round for a coffee, chat and lots of kissing for half hour on the way home from Tesco before going back to his house.
Going to get together later in the week.

Is Mr D the person you saw last weekend?
Hope you're ok, can I joking your pity party? I feel like crap tonight 😢

I'm thinking of deleting all my app profiles and starting fresh next week (or whenever I feel up to it!).
Is that a good idea do you think? Just feel like I might have swiped right on people in haste 🙈

@blacksocks33 that's what I did when Mr T decided he wasn't ready for a relationship and it knocked me for 6. I ended up coming off for almost a month before rejoining

It's just so rubbish isn't it. I'm just going to delete them now and take some breathing space ❤️

Thanks for the new thread @SamW98

@blacksocks33 Im so sorry, it's really rubbish but like others have said at least you know now. Be sad tonight and then tomorrows a new day. I think it's a really good idea to delete the profile, have a bit of breathing space and then go back on again when you have time to re-group.

@Thatsthebottomline good luck with the speed dating, good on you for getting back out there. Hopefully it will be better than last time.

Well the profile I was drawn to replied (Mr Builder) & there has been a couple of messages back and forth but it's a bit like pulling teeth so either he is no a communicator by text or just not particularly interested. But then got one saying it's been lovely chatting. I mean we definitely hadn't been chatting or at least not my interpretation of chat. I dunno, I'm starting to second guess absolutely everything. I mean that should be a positive comment but I'm sat here thinking is that it's been lovely chatting but no thanks. Or is that a lovely chatting speak again soon type of message.

Meanwhile someone else has sent a funny and relevant message referencing something in my profile and I can't be bothered replying because I'm too caught up in analysing the other non chat 🙄

I'm also trying to watch something with subtitles and post on here so to be fair I am multi tasking. Anyway to those who are feeling despondent, I feel your pain.

Yeh, it was all looking so promising wasn't it?! But I've just felt like for the last couple of days he's blowing a bit hot and cold and I'm doing more of the chasing. It's giving me that anxiety I said about. I just think even if he is nice company and I'm attracted to him, I don't like the way it's making me feel when we don't see each other. So why bother?!

@Pepsimaxedout latest season of young royals but I'm going to have to re watch as have missed at least half the plot because I'm either on here or swiping left on match so can't keep up with the subtitles 😆

@Pepsimaxedout yes I totally understand what you mean.
I've been thinking that myself aswell... I've enjoyed his company and his chat.... but I really have not enjoyed the not knowing. I don't mind seeing someone shy or who is a slow burner.... but I have found the lack of communication about feelings expectionally hard. It's taken it's tole.
I already miss texting him though. He's probably sat at home relieved he's binned me off 😂

@blacksocks33 it's hard isn't it? The uncertainty and not knowing can be soul destroying. It's also so hard when you get attached and then it's all over.

Yeah it really is. I think that moving forward I need to sort of make more of an effort to start conversations about expectations/wants early on and not shy from that.
I've just had to delete our text chat as I kept reading messages. Urgh. I hope I feel better tomorrow 😞
