What is the age gap between you and your partner?

Missing on a statement made by someone on a recent thread that 'there should be no more than s give year age gap'.
My bf is seven years younger than me and exh was 6 years older.
I have friends and colleagues of all ages and don't know how old they are never think to ask and yesterday a collect I get on very well with in and out of work mentioned their age and they were eight years younger than me.
Why are some posters so fixated on age?

He's 18 months older.

My husband is 11 years younger than me. My ex partner before that was 18 years older than me!

There’s only about a year between us. I don’t think people are fixated on age unless it means there’s a power imbalance or it’s a bit pervy.

I'm 7 years older than my DH, we met at work,he thought I was younger than him. Never an issue, some other people were judging. His brother said the man should be 3 years older. He said he wished he had met me before I married my first H. Well, I was 19, guess he was still climbing trees. He is only 13 years older than my oldest daughter.

DH is older than me by 2 years & just over 3 months.

For us 18 months. The key thing for me is how old are you? A gap of 7 years will be very different for people who are say 49 and 42 compared to people who are 17 and 24.

49 myself. My fiancé is 3 years older but our up bringings were so different, I tease him for being from a different, older, generation.

My last serious boyfriend was 12 years younger. So that may be why.

4 years between me and DH. I did have a very happy relationship prior to this though with someone who was 16 years older- the sex was amazing too. Ultimately we wanted different things at the point of life we were both at, but this can be the case for couples close in age too so whilst it might be more likely to be an issue with a big age gap not always.
