What is the age gap between you and your partner?

Missing on a statement made by someone on a recent thread that 'there should be no more than s give year age gap'.
My bf is seven years younger than me and exh was 6 years older.
I have friends and colleagues of all ages and don't know how old they are never think to ask and yesterday a collect I get on very well with in and out of work mentioned their age and they were eight years younger than me.
Why are some posters so fixated on age?

I'm single but I have an ex 11 years younger than me and another ex 12 years older than I am!

He's 11 years older. I've previously dated someone 9 years younger and had a fling with someone 20 years younger.

He's only ever dated women within a fw years of his age so he was a bit wary to begin with but the age difference hasn't been an issue. It's only noticeable because he looks older than me and is closer to retirement than I am.

I don't think people are focused on it but I do think there is an issue when someone only wants to date significantly younger or older than themselves.

I am 9 years older.

He’s 14 months older than me. Most of my friends are older than their husbands though.

I am 9 years older than my DH. We met when he was 37 and I was 46. If we had met 10 years earlier I don’t think it would have worked but we were in similar places in life when we got together - both of us had children and neither of us wanted any more. Meeting someone with children was important to me I was dumped at the age of 44 by a man who said he was dumping me because he wanted his own biological kids.
11 and a half years later we are still very very happy.

I saw that post and thought it was ridiculous!!! 9 years and there are zero problems.

Some people are very judgemental.

DH is 15 years younger than me. Together for 10 years, have a 8 year old DD and married for 5 years.

Exactly 4 year age gap, he is 4 years older. Our birthdays are the same day.

I don't think most people are fixated on age.

A 20 year age gap doesn't have to be a problem, but you're likely to face challenges because of it (different references / things in common from childhood, different expectations of social life / where to live, different views on having children etc etc).

A 15 year age gap can be fine, not that unusual, but if one of you is 18 and the other is 33 it's a worrying power imbalance and could be because the older partner wants someone to control.

A big age gap may be fine for ages, then becomes an issue (the 40 year old bf when you're 25 might seem sexy and experienced; when you're 45 and he's talking about retirement you might struggle to relate).
