What is the age gap between you and your partner?

Missing on a statement made by someone on a recent thread that 'there should be no more than s give year age gap'.
My bf is seven years younger than me and exh was 6 years older.
I have friends and colleagues of all ages and don't know how old they are never think to ask and yesterday a collect I get on very well with in and out of work mentioned their age and they were eight years younger than me.
Why are some posters so fixated on age?

He is 12 years older than me

He’s four years older, we met when I was 22 so a completely inconsequential gap.
The man I was with before him was 16 years older tho, that raised a lot of eyebrows, largely, I expect, down to the fact I was 19 when we got together. Funnily enough though it ended because I wanted marriage and children and he didn’t feel quite quite ready.

DH is 10 years older. I am in much poorer health than him, so I really do think age is just a number.
I’ve known a few larger age gap relationships (one had an 18 year age gap, the other a 16 year age gap), in both situations people assumed the younger one would end up alone or caring for someone elderly later on, in both relationships the younger partner died first.

DH 24 years older than me. The most caring and respectful, loving and cherishing relationship I’ve ever known. Also the most erotic.

DH is 8 years younger. I’m 47.
when I was 18-24 sort of age I really liked older guys, I’m talking 20 years older.
Now I like younger guys. I’m talking 28-40 though. I’ve been propositioned by 19-21 year olds in nightclubs which is cringetastic.

My husband is 3 years younger than me.

DH is five years older than me. I am 70, at this time of life, believe me, you don't want a bigger age gap. DH is in very good nick but time is closing in.

I’m 50. ExH was 7 years older, we were together for 20 years or so, great team 3 kids. Exlover, 8 years older, together for nearly 8 years only recently ended after a couple of on & off years, love of my life. Current lover, 20 years younger, complete dickhead, but so much fun.

I think it's up to the individuals involved & whether it works for them tbh. 5 weeks between me & DH. I find it odd when I read about Bruce Willis & his much younger wife though or Jon Snow the presenter & the huge age gap he has. (Plus he has a v young child & is 75 so I think that is v v odd as he may well die before his child is an adult- my parents died at 72 & 77. I don't think anyone should have a child at that age). I personally wouldn't want to be caring for a much older partner when I was still middle aged. I have loads of cultural references with my DH - we both remember the same bands/shows/films etc that shaped our childhood or teenage years. I love that connection.

Both of my husbands have been 2-3 years younger than me. I had a couple of relationships with much bigger age gaps when I was between marriages and in neither case was the age gap a problem.
