What is the age gap between you and your partner?

Missing on a statement made by someone on a recent thread that 'there should be no more than s give year age gap'.
My bf is seven years younger than me and exh was 6 years older.
I have friends and colleagues of all ages and don't know how old they are never think to ask and yesterday a collect I get on very well with in and out of work mentioned their age and they were eight years younger than me.
Why are some posters so fixated on age?

My DP is 5 years younger than me. My previous partners/husband have all been at least 5 years older than me.

When I met him he was far more mature than any of my older ex partners.

He's 9 months younger than me

6 days..... and its an arse because there is Christmas between our birthdays! We really didn't plan this well 🤣

Ex of ten years was 20 years older.
DH is 7 years older.
Brief fling in-between was 5 years younger.

My OH is 23 years older... but we're currently in the process of breaking up because the age gap going into the future is far too daunting for me to contemplate.

My husband is 15 years older. And I've heard it all. An ex friend actually really went at me for it, that it was doomed, that I was inflicting an old dad on our kids if we got together, that it would never work. We've been together a long time now, have great kids and he's a great dad! He has loads of fun with them and although yes he is 42 now he's far from old and I have a happy stable home, a solid partner who I love and happy loved kids. Ex friend who went for a suitable same age partner is now a single mum and that dad has no involvement and doesn't support her financially. But apparently my choice of husband is far worse than hers was because one day we might split up because the gap gets too big. If it happens it happens atleast we got to have a great marriage and raise our kids together. 🤷‍♀️

Dh is a month older than me

Sil 1 has a dh who was 42 year older than her

Sil 2 has a dh ego is 21 years older

My ds1 is 33 snd his wife is 45..

So what Noones business.

I think it depends a lot on where you met. If at school or university it's likely to only be a year or so age gap as you'd both be quite young, making big age gaps more imbalanced and also you'd be with a similarly aged peer group. My ExH was 6 months younger than me. We met at school, started a relationship in our early 20s.

DH 8y older

Age is really tricky. My SIL is 8 years older than my brother and they are very happy so I’m not against age gaps per se however I think it very much depends on how old the younger person is when the relationship starts (20 and 28 is a lot weirder than 28 and 36 imo) because of the STAGE of life you are at. It’s important there isn’t a power imbalance.

I'm 11 years older than my partner and never been happier. He is far more mature, intelligent and caring than my ex who was older than me.

No idea why some people are obsessed with age, I've never cared! I do prefer an older man, my partner is 16 years older than me 😂
Which, if was 16 I would see as an issue.
But I'm a grown woman of 32! He's wonderfully mature and it's the best relationship I've had!

Always felt the perfect gap. Very happily married for 44 years. (I was a child bride 🤣🤣🤣)

I'm exactly 3 weeks younger than DH.
