Last night my DH told me that the average couple have sex 3 times a week ...
I have told him that has to be absolute Bolleaux and that I will put it to Mumsnet.
He tried to back track and say that Mumsnet wasn't a good example of the population to ask such information - ROFL
Um so 50,000+ (how many members does MN have now?) women with children is not a good cross section?

FWIW: I think Once a week is a very very active sexlife Chez Ghosty ... but it is more like twice a month here

Anyway, PLEASE help me out here girls - SURELY 3 times a week CAN'T be the average for people with kids???

depends on what you mean by sex!

I have sex every day - with whoever I fancy off the TV at the time (currently Gibbs on NCIS) -shame he doesn't know about it!

I only had sex 3 times in the whole of last year!

And 2 of those was to kick start labour!

I've got DD nearly 5, ds 2 and a half....sex tend to be quality rather that quantity. Had to clarify to dp the other day that I really won't be horny if woken up after sleeping for a couple of hours....he jovially stated that he lives in a pepetual staate of hopefully horney! We both do shift work, reckon some weeks we may manage 2 or three times, the average is definately closer to once. But it's getting better with time! ( so I'm more inclined to go for it these days) God it helps when your sleep pattern has returned to something more human than 5 hour a night ( broken)...

I like having sex everyday. I get told off for touching his willy all the time. I don't mean to. I'm just still in the time mind set i'm allowed to. I don't wasn't as a single mum.

I would always seem to prefer the extra 10 min sleep!! ha ha...

We have sex at least 3 times a week. Mentioned this thread to my husband, shouldn't have bothered, the word sex got him excited, make it 4 times this week.

I enjoy it about 70% of the time, but don't hate it the other times, keeps DH happy and I love him so its worth it.

about the same here, dp is forever moaning about it, he says we dont just have to have sex when the ds's are in bed asleep, there othertimes as well !!! he means when ds2 has his afternoon nap but it didnt go down well when i said i need that time to catch up on housework or something else or mumsneting etc etc!!

and as for the bloody women he works with telling him we should be at it mnore than that and that when they had their dc they were at it the week after they hade given birth,!!! wtf!! i dont know if he made that up or they're winding him up but theres no way i was having sex until i stopped bleeding (and my stiches were gone)which was 7 weeks postpartum. im sure those old bags had a big wooden spoon at his old work

sex - oh i remember that, three times a night. Twelve years ago...
Now? 3 DC, get it three times a month more like. maybe a bonus at holidays . trying to get chance when none of the dc turning up in our bed is quite a feat.

Such a good thread. Has really made me think. I'd say 2 or 3 times a week in the winter and maybe 3-4 times a week in the summer.

Tiredness of course being the defining factor.
