Mumsnet Poll: Please help me tell my husband that NO ONE has sex 3 times a week when they have children ...

Last night my DH told me that the average couple have sex 3 times a week ...
I have told him that has to be absolute Bolleaux and that I will put it to Mumsnet.
He tried to back track and say that Mumsnet wasn't a good example of the population to ask such information - ROFL
Um so 50,000+ (how many members does MN have now?) women with children is not a good cross section?

FWIW: I think Once a week is a very very active sexlife Chez Ghosty ... but it is more like twice a month here

Anyway, PLEASE help me out here girls - SURELY 3 times a week CAN'T be the average for people with kids???

We have had three children in four years so our sex life has been lots of it whilst ttc then NOTHING!

Mind you dh is always glad of a break after ttc rounds.

I wonder how much Mumsnet is a contributory factor to the revealing statistic shown by mumsnetters on this thread (ie "Twice a month if he is lucky" etc etc). Hours spent on Mumsnet must affect the sex lives of all husbands and partners of Mumsnetters.

Well if the DH's of Mumsnetters were more 'interesting' than Mumsnet itself maybe that wouldn't be the case MrG!!!!!

Seduction starts OUTSIDE the bedroom Mr G - empty that dishwasher, put the children to bed and cook dinner - then you may get somewhere!

I only have the one dd - she is one, and a terrible sleeper. But at least 3 times a week, usually, Mirena randomness permitting

Had a year of TTC when poor DH would look harrassed and shifty when he spotted me with that 'look' in my eye - we went from me hotly pursuing him everywhere he went to virtually nothing - first there were nights with a new baby, then the exhaustion of looking after toddlers all day every day, then the off-puttingness of having curious and sentient beings in the next room, and finally the ghastly thought of teenagers hearing the breathy moans and sloshy sounds of passion from two people they consider geriatric.

Nope, tell Mr Ghosty it's all over.

we have it about 6 times a week and we have a lo who 17mo bt thats only been happening since oct coz we had a good talk after finishing bfing and co sleeping so we make time to make lurve

best thing we ever did we talk and appreciate each other more for it

yes i know before it was probably 2 a fortnight

i have a hge sex drive and it was casing huge problems

its all about feeling good with me feminine lingerie looking after yourself so you feel like you want to mke love

rather oh god here we go i get such a kick that my hbby fancies me this much after 8 years together and body looking nothing like the tight taut thing it was when i was 18

its took a while bt im so glad we do have sex regularly like i said just makes everything better more cuddles more kisses

think in nemo household it averages out to be about 2x a week as some weeks more some weeks less..obviously 3 very young children with a decent bedtime

We have this week - it is rare that we do it more than once a week though - is on account of me having more energy from running and visiting a neighbour and getting a little drunk last night!

I find any less than 2-3 times a week I get out of the groove and my passages furr up. IMO worth making the effort to keep the connection, even if at times it's perfunctory.

We have it around every other night, and we have a child. If it got any more than ten days without, we'd both think something was wrong I think. But every couple is different. Im lucky that we both have the same sex drives, I bet about 85% of couples dont.

3 times a week isn't average for anyone. 3 times a week is as realistic as men can make their wishful thinking.

Or women's wishful thinking, I would love to be having it three times a week, its part of my fantasy of a perfect life, along with having a housekeeper, and going to restaurant openings every week and being size 12, and having a house that backs onto the river

We seem to go through spells sometimes it could be 5+ in a week others once a month, depends whats going on and how the kids are etc.

I suppose to average it out over a year I'd expect it would be about 2-3 week.

we do it 2x a week and dh is only at home at the weekends, but when he was back over xmas we did it everyday... probably novelty factor though!

Sorry but generally DH and I do have sex around 3 times per week, sometimes its more, others its less.

Newish relationship so prob slightly more enthusiastic than long married one but usually about 5 times a week?
