DP just bought a ring... Am I crazy to think he's about to propose?

We've been together for 18months . We have discussed marriage in the past and he knows I would say yes... The only thing id that I love jewellery in general so it could be just a random gift :/

Surely he has just bought a ring and will give it to you in due course, either as a proposal or as a gift.

Is he prone to giving random gifts? Can you judge the purpose from the look/value of the ring?

Apparently it's a "promise ring". The FC saw him buying it online and told me how it was a big surprise. He did say the real thing will come one day, but this one wasn't good enough.

Around here a promise ring is given at proposal so then girl gets to pick her own engagement ring. So maybe thats the plan.
