Cancelled date 30 minutes before..feel like crying

Been texting for 3 weeks ...
Arranged to meet today for a drink at quarter 2.
I got the train to his city (50 min train)
Literally got off the train and he has text
“My dad has been taken in hospital,can we re arrange?”
£18 train and 50 min journey
Feel like crying

I'm.sorry but if it's true then completely.understandable. If true then when you arrange another date, get him to come to.your town

unhelpful but in future make sure it’s the guy that travels. do some shopping and get a nice coffee somewhere with what you would hace spent.

If you feel you want to give him another chance (we don’t know him so we don’t know if it’s a lie or the truth) no more texting. Too many people just see it as words on a screen with no human being behind them. That’s why they find it so easy to then casually text “sorry can’t make it”.

I agree with lemonade, if you are going to give him one more chance then he can travel to you next time.

PS. I had one of these. A woman who messed me about for about 6 weeks over meeting. Last straw was me sat on a bus on way to a pub to meet her and suddenly her mum ' was taken into hospital' (this is after 10 other excuses of previous meetings she arranged then cancelled)

I told her what for and never spoke to her again.

4 weeks later I met my now GF of a year.
So just move on.

re. dating in future. Suggest you always say you will call or text on the day to confirm. Sometimes people are idiots like that chap. Sometimes people have shaky self-esteem and can't go through with it but you will need to know in advance that they can defo make it.
