Cancelled date 30 minutes before..feel like crying

Been texting for 3 weeks ...
Arranged to meet today for a drink at quarter 2.
I got the train to his city (50 min train)
Literally got off the train and he has text
“My dad has been taken in hospital,can we re arrange?”
£18 train and 50 min journey
Feel like crying

Being polite to wankers always backfires. Just after my marriage broke up someone set me up on a blind date. When I got to the hotel bar where I was to meet him he was there already, already quite drunk. Struggled to find something to talk about, and asked him what he 'did'. Refused lift home (from a drunk!). The person who arranged the date told me subsequently that he (blind date) wasn't interested because I'd come across as a gold-digger, trying to figure out how much he earned!

I learned from that, if someone is acts like a wanker, it's because he is.

I don't understand....his dad was rushed to hospital....but he needed to get his daughter shoes....but now it doesn't matter about his dad? Eh?? He's playing games like 30 mins into any sort of relationship....annnnnnd NEXT!!! He's not worth the time or money. Move on x

Just waiting for the train home now.
What a waste.
He had to get his daughter (3) shoes but she wasn’t there.
Apparently his mum has called a ambulance because his dad has hurt his back /leg but ambulance will be 2 hours as it’s non urgent.
We literally went to the sports shop then walked round the streets and he said bye.
I think I look nice,I get attention from men..feel like a right fool

So... he lied about his dad being in hospital ( yes, he lied because if it was real he would have phoned to apologize as she has just come 50 mins on a train to see him), then suddenly it didn't matter that his dad was in hospital because he could come into town after all, but even then it wasn't that he could come into town for your arranged date because his dad was miraculously okay, it was to get his daughter shoes, and then he let you tag along for ten minutes to buy shoes. So no interest in the date you have traveled 50 minutes for at all then. Block him and next time, walk away at the first sign.

Don’t worry I wouldn’t entertain him.
I’ve never had a date like it in my life.
Not even a quick drink or a bite to eat.

Well of course he did. His wife would have become suspicious if he was out any longer.

What has likely happened is that he thought he had the afternoon to himself because she was going to her Mother's or take the kids to a birthday party or some such and the plan changed. Kid got sick or something and he couldn't think of a believable excuse as to where he would be going so cancelled. He then thought of the genius reason of school shoe shopping but that would only work if he was out for approximately the length of time shoe shopping would take or "'er in doors" would get suspicious.

I'm sorry that you've been messed about OP but DO NOT keep in contact with this cockwomble. You know you can do better and single, right?

He was lying because, for example, the ambulance might treat him at home, and he might not have to physically go to hospital, yet in his text he said "my dad has been taken into hospital" which hadn't happened.

He sounds weird and like an idiot, glad you saw that.
