Hello, welcome to thread five!! Smile

I'm Mouse and I'm 10 whole days sober which is bloody amazing given that I would normally consume nearly 90 units per week! And that's without 'special occasions'!! Shock

So, if I can do it, you can do it! The support here is awesome, no matter where you are in your quest to quit. No judging, no cliquey groups.

We are just real, honest people. All helping each other to give up the booze. Come meet the other Brave Babes........................

And for those who would like to read the adventures so far, here are the links from the first four threads!

JWN's original thread (the reason we are all here)

gettingwrinkly · 14/08/2010 21:13

Hi all,
Back off hols, been trying to catch up with all that's happened in the past couple of weeks - far too much to sink in! Should have been doing the holiday washing, but it's been raining here since I got home, so a good excuse to sit on the computer.
Back to day 1 for me I'm afraid, drank every day on holiday but made myself drink lambrini (it's crap but not as strong as real wine) Yes I know MIFLAW, the "made myslef drink" shows the problem I have, but I figured it wasn't worth getting sressed over- by next year hopefully not drinking might be the norm insead of a daily struggle. Now have to get a job (been trying since May with 1 interview) oh well, nice to be back!!!

jesuswhatnext · 14/08/2010 22:30

hi wrinkly, nice to have you back! did you have a good holiday?, was it hot?, weather here has been bloody awful!, never mind about being back to day 1, you have to start somewhere! Smile

btw, lambrini, uggh, the boozer in me says i would rather have drunk lighter fluid Grin

gettingwrinkly · 14/08/2010 22:38

Hi JWN
Went to the Lake District - weather was mixed, but better than home apparently!
I felt really tense about not drinking and thought I would be in such a bad mood about it that I'd ruin DH & DS's holiday too (how unselfish of me - not!!!) But was scared of drinking too much and ruining heir hols in a ttotally differnt way so the lambrini was a sort of compromise.

back to tea tonight!

jesuswhatnext · 14/08/2010 22:43

yep wrinkly, tea sounds much nicer than lambrini, for sooooo many reasons!! Grin

btw, i am ashamed to admit that i have never been to the lake district Blush

gettingwrinkly · 14/08/2010 22:54

It's beautiful! I would go definately go back - we wen there on our honeymoon (22 years ago) butt not been back since.

ChristianaTheSeventh · 14/08/2010 23:31

OH god I've failed again. Just had three G&Ts

Sorry everyone

TrinityRhino · 15/08/2010 09:05

morning all daaaaaaaaaay 6

christi, dont worry, just jump back on the bus Smile

venusandmars · 15/08/2010 09:33

Morning all. I was out till 2.30 last night, and then we stayed up chatting till 4. It's a long time since I've done that, so I'm feeling rather strange this morning. The great thing though, is that I don't have a headache, or that disgusting mouth (I think someone called it badger's arse feeling!).

Have a good day everyone. Christi, you have not failed. You had a drink (or two). Your choice about what you do today.... As Trinity says, there's room on the bus. Hop aboard.

Oh and lovely to see wrinkly back. I'd forgotten you were on holiday, but I'd noticed you weren't around and posting.

maddogsandenglishmen · 15/08/2010 10:24

Morning! I'm so happy to say that I made it through last night and once I'd turned down the inital glass of Prosecco, it was pretty easy. The conversation was 99% in German, but fortunately our host was in a verbose mood and perfectly happy for no one else to speak! In fact as the evening wore on, he seemed positively annoyed if anyone else tried to join in the conversation Grin

Thanks for all the good wishes, you were all there with me.

Welcome back from holidays Wrinkly, I think I joined the thread after you had left so Hello! I have done that many timestoo - drinking "because" otherwise I'd be grumpy and ruin everybody else's fun. Hmm I love the Lakes.

Christi, you haven't failed, just start over and hop back on.

Mouse, I hope you had a good night's rest!

Lovely to see you Jesus and Trinity!

My plans for today are taking dd to see Toy Story 3 this afternoon and this evening watching more "Life on Mars" on DVD. Hope you all have a relaxing Sunday.

maddogsandenglishmen · 15/08/2010 10:25

Ooh, sorry Venus, I missed you out. I can't even remember the last time I stayed up until 4! Sounds like you had a great time.

jesuswhatnext · 15/08/2010 12:37

oooo venus!!! you dirty stop out!!! Grin

well done maddogs, see, wasnt so hard was it?? Smile

right now we are turfing out dds room, i am trying and failing to maintain my sense of humour!! i never realised what a bloody minky fecker i had dragged up Confused

back later, will try and get rid of my cats bum mouth by then!! Angry

btw - 11 weeks today!!! Grin

Mouseface · 15/08/2010 16:13

Hello.

I feel so upside down today. DH is driving me insane..... damn PMT is making me flip!! I swear I'll be 3 stone more by the end of the day!

I am comfort eating like mad.

JWN - we cleared DD's room when we moved 18 months ago. I have never seen such a god awful tip!! Things were squirrelled away all over the place!! Grr! Congtrats on 11 weeks!!

Trinity - yay for day 6.

Christi - here's your ticket. Smile

venus - the last time I was up that late without it being DC related was on our honeymoon!! I sat and watched the sunrise alone as DH was fast asleep. We were in Koh Samui.

maddogs - well done on the not drinking!!

wrinkly - nice to see you!! Hope you had a lovely holiday.

Off to do more packing now.

I'm utterly facked off. Pha.

jesuswhatnext · 15/08/2010 17:11

serious sense of humour failure here!

i have handwashed about 20 items of vintage clothing that costs a bloody fortune to collect Angry, i have found 1950s dresses dumped on the floor next to a load primark crap arrrgghh and the dust!!! sweet jesus, im sorry ladies but i think i have caused such a cloud today that you will be finding it on your mantlepiece tomorrow!!! Blush

off to put some dinner on, stay sober girls, if i can after the day ive had, so can you!!! Grin

venusandmars · 15/08/2010 17:41

Jesus, I feel for you. My dd's room is shameful. I relly don't remember that I was quite so bad when I was her age, but then I probably didn't have so much stuff, nor came by it so easily. I remember how long it took me to save up for my first pair of Levi jeans. No way would they have been screwed up on the floor.

Hi mouse, you are doing so well. PMT too will pass Smile. I remember your first posts when you thought that cutting down was agonisingly difficult, and sobriety an impossibility. What a difference in that time.

Hope everyone else has had a good weekend. I am rather excited because I am going away on Wednesday for 6 whole days in a buddhist place for mediitation, mindfulnes and compassion. never mind a day at a time, I will be chilling moment by moment. I will be soooooooo chilled out when I get back that you will have to prod me to get a response. And even then I will probably just smile serenely at you, and nod wisely.

Either that or I'll come back like a hattering monkey Grin

venusandmars · 15/08/2010 17:44

oops 'chattering monkey' Blush

Mouseface · 15/08/2010 18:16

venus

I did wonder if a 'hattering' monkey was the hat wearing type? Wink

I know. I can't believe how far I have come and it's all thanks to you Babes!! Day 13 today! I'm just Shocked

JWN

I think a treat is in order after the day you have had. Something srumptious. Cake or ice-cream or chocolate or a glass of something refreshing and juicy...... or all four!! Grin

I will miss you all next week!! I'm going to text Red if I wobble. Mobile support, how wonderful!!

DH has just blurted out that he feels totally stressed and that we don't have time for a break as there is so much to do on the house and work is busy and etc etc etc.....

The exact reason he DOES need a break. We've not been away or out together since DS was born, in fact for longer than that. He's uber tense!!

So, sunshine and fresh air please, if you can all send up a little request to Mother Nature for me. That would be grand!!

Right, back to it!!!!!!!

OP posts:
Mouseface · 15/08/2010 18:20

'scrumptious' even!

OP posts:
jesuswhatnext · 15/08/2010 19:03

ah mouse!! thats proberbly why he has been driving you insane today!, dh and i always have what we call 'the happy holiday' row! Grin, we both always have soooo much to do before we go anywhere it makes us a 'tad irritable' Grin btw, where are you off to, if you dont mind me asking?

venus, your few days away sound like heaven on earth to me Envy yep, my dds room WAS shameful too Blush Angry, why are they so bloody lazy about clearing up?, it is now clean, fresh and sparkling, i may make her move out now, just so i can enjoy going in there for a while! Grin

venusandmars · 15/08/2010 19:23

Yeah, I think there's lots goes on in the week before a holiday, when everyone is trying to finish off all the things they have been putting off in the previous months, so that they can go on holiday relaxed and with a clear conscience, without worrying that things will go wrong while they are away.

I think that also combines with suddenly realising how tired you are and how much you are in need of a break. It is as though the closer the holiday gets, the more exhausted and frazzled you feel.

I pretty much end up still emailing as the taxi arrives, and with a pile of things (bills, birthday cards etc) that need posted at the airport.

Mouseface · 15/08/2010 19:49

We're going to Dorset to be with DH's brother and new GF for 4 days M-T.

Gone are the days of jetting off to Madrid etc!!

Well, for now. DH is saving up to take me back to Koh Samui, one day.

Bless!

Back soon, more packing!!
