I'm Mouse and I'm 10 whole days sober which is bloody amazing given that I would normally consume nearly 90 units per week! And that's without 'special occasions'!!

So, if I can do it, you can do it! The support here is awesome, no matter where you are in your quest to quit. No judging, no cliquey groups.

Today is day 1 for me, so feeling a bit shaky tonight.

Can I ask what you all do when you are out socialising? My problem is when I'm home on my own... I don't find it hard not to drink when other people are around... Not sure if this means I can be trusted in public situations or whether 'no more' has to mean 'no more ever'...

And now I am very embarassed

The clever thing now is to stay sober, each day.

Hi lastone, thing thing is not to think in terms of 'what if' or 'forverer'.

I have no idea what will happen in the future for me and whether I will ever drink again. All I know is that for now, today, I do not intend to have a drink. And I will probably do the same tomorrow, and I expect the same the day after that.

Previously, if I went out and only had a couple of drinks (perhaps because I was at someone's house and that was all that was on offer) then I would be thinking about when I could next have a 'proper' drink. And the next day I would 'reward' myself for having being so well controlled the previous night.

I just cannot be in that position at the moment, so this weekend I have a friend coming to stay. We will be going out and I am planning the weekend around not having a drink. We will be out living it up at the Edinburgh festival. Previously I could not have imagined that without being well oiled, but now I am thinking it will be quite good fun to be sober, to be able to enjoy it and remember it, and not spent half my time queueing for a toilet.

Christi, my garden is looking lovely, I got a few bargains - they were selling big begonias for £1. Not quite at their best but it makes them look very natural in the garden . No one would guess that I hadn't grown them myself.

And I've followed your recommendation and I have booked ticket to see Smoke and Mirrors.

hello all, nice to see a quiet evening again! i have had 'one of those days', feel pretty crappy, dd now has tonsilitis , poor little thing is feeling dreadful, but

I HAVE NOT HAD A DRINK!!

do you know, when i look back, i really dont know how i coped with things like dd/dh being poorly when i was drinking! , i know i looked after them, but it really wasnt to the best of my ability .

i am very at christi and venus!! i would love to meet you all 'in hte flesh' so to speak!, i hope that it is a new friendship that will stand the test of time!

ok, now i know im tired, i have just got very cross at the computer not working and realised that i have been 'useing' my mobile phone as a mouse!
