Hello, welcome to thread five!! Smile

I'm Mouse and I'm 10 whole days sober which is bloody amazing given that I would normally consume nearly 90 units per week! And that's without 'special occasions'!! Shock

So, if I can do it, you can do it! The support here is awesome, no matter where you are in your quest to quit. No judging, no cliquey groups.

We are just real, honest people. All helping each other to give up the booze. Come meet the other Brave Babes........................

And for those who would like to read the adventures so far, here are the links from the first four threads!

So sorry your appointment didn't go better moomin. You are doing so well in facing up to things and dealing with them sober. Well done to you.

Saffysmum and Miss P - I know that voice all to well, in fact it has been with me this afternoon and has been trying to convince me that I really don't drink that much at all! Crafty and almost believable today (because I want it to be true)

However, I like being sober because... a backache now does't lead me into paranoid imaginings of failing kidneys etc

RedMoomin · 19/08/2010 15:52

I know that voice only too well ladies!

(Thanks for your kind thoughts too pav.)

MissPerrier · 19/08/2010 16:03

Pav - my backaches were usually almost certainly Pancreatitis or Liver damage! oh yes the joys...
I like being sober because I feel liberated and empowered
Oooh get me Blush

MissPerrier · 19/08/2010 16:04

Best I only feel things I can spell though!Grin

pavalova · 19/08/2010 16:14

Look at you "all empowered!!" Quite right too at 5 weeks. It is very freeing not being on that hamster wheel. Well, perhaps I am still on the hamster wheel but at least without the hangover Grin

pavalova · 19/08/2010 16:18

PS I am not sure why Pancreatitis never occurred to me before Hmm

RedMoomin · 19/08/2010 16:19

Ha ha MissP!

Have any of you ever had liver/ kidney tests or whatever? I have! I had everything tested when I stopped drinking. Everything showed as fine on liver function test, kidneys, heart etc. However I also had a test that looked at the gamma levels of my liver. That came back as being 'outside the normal range' - due to alcohol. Nice. I then had it tested 3 or 4 months later (no booze) and it had gone back to normal!

I think what I am trying to say is that the damage can be reversible - it didn't take long for me. I was really pleased I had found out.

pavalova · 19/08/2010 16:23

'the gamma levels of my liver' Wow that sounds like something from star trek. It does go to show though Moomin how bloody brilliant our bodies are. I bet you feel pretty good knowing that you are in pretty fine shape inside. The paranoid in me often thinks up images of destruction on the inside, that is when I am not worrying about something else!!

MissPerrier · 19/08/2010 16:30

Moomin - no I have never been tested, too scared really Sad Pav - I didn't mean worry you, that was my anxiety, I don't want you to catch it IYSWIM

RedMoomin · 19/08/2010 16:31

I was very pleased with my body! "Well done", I said to it! Grin Just being stupid, the human body is amazing and given half a chance it will repair itself. And if anything has been badly damaged at least it won't get any worse.

MissPerrier · 19/08/2010 16:32

Ha ha Pav if I'm not worrying about something... it really worries me Smile

RedMoomin · 19/08/2010 16:32

MissP - I had got to the point where I had convinced myself that I was on the verge or developing cirrohsis (sp?) so it was better - for me - to find out! And yes, there was some damage but it was ok.

MissPerrier · 19/08/2010 16:34

Moomin you really are very brave about facing things head on! Smile

RedMoomin · 19/08/2010 16:38

Hmm, if I had faced the money situation a little bit earlier I might not be in this mess! Better late than never Wink

lowenergylightbulb · 19/08/2010 16:39

Moomin, well done you for facing stuff. That's well brave.

I've been out to the supermarket and have stocked up on nesquick strawberry milkshake, mint ice cream and raspberry ripple ice cream.

It's for me to consume while I'm looking at my plants!

RedMoomin · 19/08/2010 16:47

Sounds like you will have a wonderful plant-watching evening!

I am off soon babes. Thanks for everything today. I will be drowning my sorrows.... in diet coke and an AA meeting!

Catch you all tomorrow x

Saffysmum · 19/08/2010 16:49

Sorry the bank wasn't helpful Red, but well done on not being tempted to drink. I hated going to my parents when I got in a muddle which I often did, but now I have kids I'd want to help them whatever age they were, so perhaps swallow your pride and ask them? Off to make my umpteenth cup of tea!

pavalova · 19/08/2010 16:49

Don't be too hard on yourself Moomin, you are doing great. Hope it is a good meeting tonight. x

MissPerrier · 19/08/2010 16:50

Moomin you are a true computer fairy 5 o'clock and... puff you vanish Grin Have a peaceful night.

RedMoomin · 19/08/2010 16:52

Smile at being a true computer fairy!

gingeroots · 19/08/2010 16:52

RedMoomin · 19/08/2010 16:54

lowenergylightbulb · 19/08/2010 16:55

pavalova · 19/08/2010 17:07

Ginger, sorry to hear you are crying Sad You must have been tense all day waiting for him to call, no wonder you shouted.
