I know Stoke Newington in London is an expensive area but really!

I'm assuming it's currently rented out and the landlord doesn't want to miss out on a penny of his/her rent.

Probably a rental.

Juells · 06/04/2018 14:15

Stoke Newington is a very handy location. Lots of nice restaurants on the main drag, too.

That house is horrible.

BarbarianMum · 06/04/2018 14:16

Round here you can get pretty much anything short of Chatsworth for the same. Grin

Ive seen unflattering estate agents pics before but those take the biscuit.

BarbarianMum · 06/04/2018 14:16

Slum landlord I think

Why would you think that?

HeadingForSunshine · 06/04/2018 14:17

One just down the road sold for 1.25 last August. Was in good nick though. Sadly it's about the right price for stoke newington. Bet it goes for between 1.050,000 - 1,150,000.

Brittanyspears · 06/04/2018 14:17

Double that’s sooo much better!

turnipfarmers · 06/04/2018 14:18

It won't sell when there is this not far away

The garden, bathrooms and that one bedroom with all the clothes are quite bad. But it clearly has very little storage, crappy fittings etc - is this really that messy?! Their floors and surfaces are clear which is only a weekly occurrence in my household. Good on the tenants for not bending their life around the landlord's desire to profit. (If they are owner-occupiers they're missing a trick for sure)

starsandstuff · 06/04/2018 14:20

This made me think of this link I saw on twitter the other week. Kind of on the other end of the scale...kind of. You need to look at all the pictures because they only get madder.

That is a shocker. My DD1 lives in a beautiful 4 bed renovated victorian terrace in Clapham that was bought recently for £1.1 million. She didn't buy it, her flatmates uncle did and they rent it from him, that's how i know what it cost. Is Stoke Newington more expensive than the Clapham/Brixton area?

DerelictWreck · 06/04/2018 14:21

Thisnamechanger Me too!

Oblomov18 · 06/04/2018 14:22

Good god. The stuff in the bath was just Shock wasn't it? Grin

HiggeldyPigsinblankets · 06/04/2018 14:23

what a dump

for that price you could get this near me: this little place

NKFell · 06/04/2018 14:25

London is insane....for the same money you could have this lovely house near me!

KaliforniaDreamz · 06/04/2018 14:26

No joke. Stoke Newington got gentrified and this is the home of a poorer family renting being turfed out. Is my bet.

StormcloakNord · 06/04/2018 14:27

Like I say, you could literally buy a castle... mansion, meh.

Tenants probably don't want to have to go so didn't tidy up for the EA. Landlord and EA can't force them to make it look like a show home.

I know someone who bought a house like this in London. Tenants were in when they looked round and told my friend repeatedly that they were annoyed the landlord was selling - tried to guilt my friend into not placing an offer. Once the sale went through and all the tenants clutter was gone it felt a lot bigger.

I do feel for tenants who are at the mercy of landlords suddenly deciding to sell. I can see why they don't out the effort in to cleaning/tidying before photos or viewings.

TatianaLarina · 06/04/2018 14:29

Nice house on Windermere but nowhere near sushi, museums, theatres, shops etc

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/04/2018 14:30

I don't know Stoke Newington but it isn't on the tube, is it? We live in SE London and we have been on the tube map for a few years now courtesy of the Overground, and it's as if our area has suddenly lost its invisibility cloak! I don't understand why Stoke Newington is so expensive in comparison. Is it just the whole North London vs South London thing?

This is what you could get for well under 1.25 million near us, and you wouldn't have to put the loo seat down either! Grin

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/04/2018 14:30

Just did a search near me and for the exact same price I can get a 6 bed Georgian country mansion with paddock and stable block... Looks lovely :)

turnipfarmers · 06/04/2018 14:31

@starsandstuff I never thought I'd say it, but I'd prefer the Stoke Newington house!

HiggeldyPigsinblankets · 06/04/2018 14:33

NKFell I have been in that house, know/knew

HiggeldyPigsinblankets · 06/04/2018 14:34
