For £1.25m you'd think they'd have made it tidy!

I know Stoke Newington in London is an expensive area but really!

I'm assuming it's currently rented out and the landlord doesn't want to miss out on a penny of his/her rent.

Ok, we get that you’ve got shitloads of money - no need to be so crass.

I expect the neighbors are super happy this house is getting sold - the current tenants must have been 'bringing down the tone of the area'... looking at the other houses on the street (beautifully extended/renovated).

Gentrification / social cleansing in action.

That is super overpriced even for Stokey. Shit hole of a house. Needs totally gutting and the outside sorting out. Anyone with such horrific taste in fake stone render isn't going to have maintained the fabric of the property well, expect there will be some nasty surprises when the renovation starts. I'd be concerned about how sound the back extension is.

It's a shame it's so neglected isn't it? I hope whoever buys it does it justice.

Years ago after uni I maybe would have left but felt bad leaving my parents. Now I am glad I didn't, they would have missed out on their grandchildren growing up. Living somewhere that you are close to family really has it advantage. However saying that, my parents had the opportunity to move to Australia or Canada when they where younger and didn't do it because of parents, maybe they would have had a completely different life. Certainly a different lifestyle anyway. Can't see me ever leaving now.

@maggiemuff I'm exactly the same - the older I get the more I appreciate NI, especially having lived away for a bit. We have the most outstanding natural beauty within a short drive no matter where you are, cost of living is low and the locals are so friendly! Great schools too. Belfast is such a fab wee city now compared to 15/20 years ago.

Yeah it's not without its problems but where isn't? I genuinely have such a love of the place now after years of wanting to live away!

That’s just terrible. I wouldn’t pay £100k for that house let alone £1.25m!!

Yuck. It’s not even like it’s attractive from the outside either!

@maggiemuff didn't know they did any other flavours Grin Now I'm in Scotland I have Mackies honeycomb but it's a poor substitute - and I'm not a big fan of ice cream either!

The shop near me sells Mauds ice cream. It is great and that is coming from someone who doesn't have a sweet tooth! Has to be Pooh Bear though 😋

Normally I wouldn't be so defensive of NI but as I have got older I realise how beautiful it actually it. There are so many tourists here now and even the cruise ships stop at Belfast so it must have some appeal. Belfast itself has beautiful architecture and I would love to live somewhere near the sea like the North Coast. Also the South of Ireland has a lot of beautiful places and house, and Dublin is always great craic!

I love Northern Ireland, lived their for years and it's beautiful plus the accents are fab. You couldn't pay me to live in London - nothing wrong with either place, they just appeal to different types of people. But Northern Ireland has Mauds ice cream so that wins it for me

Blimey, the Stoke Newington house in OP is ghastly. But it's on one of the "most desirable" streets close to Church Street, hence huge price tag. I'll be surprised if it sells for that much, though.

M&S Food coming to Dalston, really?

That looks like a lovely house. That would definitely be much more worth the money of the house in the original post. It's crazy the way different areas have such dramatic price differences. The house in the original post would be worth £70k-£80k here.

I live in a lovely 3 bedroom detached house with garage. Cost 160, managed to get it for 140 8 years ago. Yes it’s in central Scotland, cheaper house prices and all that. But that’s bloody ridiculous!! My house looks like Buckingham palace compared to that.
