I know Stoke Newington in London is an expensive area but really!

I'm assuming it's currently rented out and the landlord doesn't want to miss out on a penny of his/her rent.

What a gruesome little hole.

You could buy half a village up here for that sort of money. They'd probably even willingly throw in the dog shit to replicate the filthy experience.

This house just shows the 'insanity' of London house porices
I know the (best) jobs and the power is all in London but I would sooner live a nice life somewhere the prices are half of that sum even if worse off materially.

Who says you can’t have a nice life in London? I have a lovely life.

Bangor - over my dead body.

I don’t get it - I know someone who bought an awesome 3 bed house in zone 2 last summer for under £800k, why in the fuck would you buy this? Sure it’s south of the river but Holy god.

There's no way that house will sell for that price, even in Stoke Newington. There are much bigger and very beautiful houses in the same area on the market for less.

Fuck me, that would barely fetch 100k here. That is ridiculous.

I love living in London, but I'm in my 50s and not trying to stretch an average salary to current London housing costs. That makes a huge difference to my quality of life. My children (mid 20s) love living in London but there's no denying it's very expensive.

That house looks about the same size as our first house in London (also SE) which we bought well over 30 years ago for (brace yourselves) £42k. 3 bedrooms (one tiny), extremely small bathroom, one small front reception room, one small back reception opening onto galley kitchen, very small garden at the back, minuscule garden at the front. Zoopla says it's now estimated to be worth nearly £550k. This is madness.

higheldy I really like it!

tatiana but London doesn’t have the lakes or the fells so horses for courses! I love to visit London but couldn’t live there, we get lots of tourists from London here and I expect they feel the same vice versa!

That house would cost around £65k here, and you could be in the centre of London in less than an hour and 20 by train.

I honestly cannot believe that anyone would pay over a MILLION pounds for that! I mean I know they do because it’s London, but seriously?!

A house like that in my area would be around the 120-130k mark. I was gobsmacked when pp said it wouldn't get more than 400k!!! Shock

It's not that shocking from a London perspective, it's probably got tenants in it who don't want to move (this happened with a friend), hence the photos and it's in the catchment area of a very good school, hence the price (it's crazy high for UK prices but unfortunately not for London). Catchment areas are tiny in London so one street can be worth way more than the next.

The house is not that small for London and London is an amazing place to live. I used to live there.

However, It's crazy how expensive It's got in the last few years! The price for an average family home in London is too high!
