I know Stoke Newington in London is an expensive area but really!

I'm assuming it's currently rented out and the landlord doesn't want to miss out on a penny of his/her rent.

DerelictWreck A MN neighbour! Did you know M&S Food is opening next to Kingsland next week?? Can't wait.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/04/2018 14:35

@starsandstuff, thanks for that, genuine LOL moment! Goodness me, that's .... um ... well. Highly individual. The House Doctor (anyone else remember her?) would have had a fit entering that house.

Juells · 06/04/2018 14:35

This made me think of this link I saw on twitter the other week.

You can tell by the photos what the realtor considered the great selling points Grin

VetOnCall · 06/04/2018 14:37

£1.25 MILLION for that?! Shock That bathroom is feral and the whole house just looks poky and grim.

This is what you can get around here for that kind of money...

Not my style, but same price near me.

MrsGB2225 · 06/04/2018 14:39

They are probably renting it out at the moment so can't move the tenants stuff.

KaliforniaDreamz · 06/04/2018 14:39

Gasp Stokie is much more convenient for central/city and east london (shoreditch etc) hence value

HawthornLantern · 06/04/2018 14:40

I sold my old flat in Stoke Newington - about 10 years ago now - and the estate agent took pictures of my untidy flat. I was furious as he'd agreed to wait until my flat was presentable. "Oh, people like to see it when it's lived in." I disagreed. I also sent him multiple good shots of my flat and called the agency repeatedly to have the pictures on their website replaced with mine. They kept promising and never delivered. I can't help wondering if the same lazy agent is at work here. There were multiple failures with him and if this poor family has him as their agent they will need all the help they can get.

KaliforniaDreamz · 06/04/2018 14:40

@starsandstuff omg i have laughed so much at that

TatianaLarina · 06/04/2018 14:40

SN is near the city and Bloomsbury, Islington etc, you just go straight down the A10.

Not that I’d want to live there, it’s a shit-hole.

TatianaLarina · 06/04/2018 14:41

Xpost Kalifornia

BigSandyBalls2015 · 06/04/2018 14:41

Oh I love that sidmouth house!!

I'm in south London and think the stoke newington house is very over priced! It's still not a great area and the house is a poky shithole.

Trooperslane2 · 06/04/2018 14:42

Jesus what a kip!

VetOnCall · 06/04/2018 14:42

That said though, if I win the Euromillions tonight I'm buying this...

The library!!!! Biggest one west of Salisbury apparently Grin

tinytemper66 · 06/04/2018 14:44

That would go for around £125,000 if owners were lucky where I live!!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/04/2018 14:46

But how do you get there, KaliforniaDreamz? Bus?

From Brockley you can get into town as follows:

8 mins Brockley to London Bridge (mainline trains), one train every 15 mins in rush hour - OK, it's Southern, the trains are usually late, but it's not a bad service and not that crowded since the Overground arrived.
10 minutes approx Brockley (Overground) to Canada Water, change onto the Jubilee Line to get to the West End, or stay on Overground to Whitechapel, walk into City or (soon) change to Crossrail
Walk or get bus down to Lewisham - DLR to Bank or Canary Wharf
Mainline rail services from St John's to Cannon Street or London Bridge
Bus services - slow but dependable - into the centre as well.
Lots of people cycle in, or even run. It's only about five miles from here to London Bridge.

TatianaLarina · 06/04/2018 14:46

Houses in Devon are often lovely, but one of my best friends moved near Exeter from London and deeply regrets it.

It’s not that it’s not beautiful - it’s gorgeous. But there’s fuck all to do. The people are provincial, outdoorsy and Boden wearing.

Once her kids have left school she’s moving back to civilisation.

squarecorners · 06/04/2018 14:47

Yeah, looks like tenants. They literally have no incentive to make it look presentable.

TatianaLarina · 06/04/2018 14:49

one train every 15 mins in rush hour

I’m not waiting 15 mins for a train!

Basically you have to change twice to get to the West End.

slug · 06/04/2018 14:50

3 bedroom, cheaper and much nicer area

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/04/2018 14:59

Smile Yes, you have to change twice to get to the West End, unless you get a train to Charing Cross from Lewisham or Ladywell. It's still very quick, compared with getting around in the rest of the UK, and all perfectly manageable as a daily commute.

I lived in North London years ago and for a short time in West London before that and I honestly believe that SE London has a huge amount going for it compared to the rest of London. Commuting on the Northern Line is not something I could go back to.

melonscoffer · 06/04/2018 15:04

The potential is there. Cellar is a big bonus.

By London standards it is not poky.

SarfE4sticated · 06/04/2018 15:07

I'm with Gaspode Brockley is brilliant and much cheaper than that - this is close to Overground/train station, near really good senior and junior schools too. We've got our own brewery and everything!

Agree with the majority. £1.25 million for a tiny terraced shit-tip, on a main road, 2 minutes walk from a main A road, with all the noise of the traffic night and day. Fuck that.

I searched for 30 seconds and found three HUGE, beautiful, properties instantly, that you can get for less than £1.25 million. In nice places too.

Anyone who buys a home in London now is a serious fucking mug. Paying 10 X more than most of the rest of the UK, to live in a polluted, crime-ridden, over-populated, overrated concrete jungle.

You couldn't PAY me to live in London.

For £1.25m you'd think they'd have made it tidy!
