3+ 4+ 5+ 7+ support thread 2016

In previous years I have started these threads to help and support all those parents involved in the independent school admissions process.

I wasn't going to start one this year as I know I would not be able to check back on it as regularly as I would like, which then defeats the purpose of the thread.

However, after numerous positive PM's about the threads I think it would be a shame not to start one where at least the hand holding can continue. Flowers

There are many many people who have been through the process and 'live to tell the tale' . There are also other tutors I know who read this thread and it would be great if you all could help and support and share your ideas.

Lolakath19 · 30/01/2016 01:51

In which other schools did you applied? What is your first choice?

tiredoffour4plus · 30/01/2016 12:58

Lolakath19, thats my problem , I'm not sure I have a clear winner.- think id be happy with any/all?. We have Queens College and a Putney High Offer, next week is Sth hampstead and Habs...

Haggismcbaggis · 30/01/2016 14:56

Tiredoffour - are you going to be moving when you've chosen?
Good luck next week for the N London schools.

tiredoffour4plus · 30/01/2016 17:51

haggismcbaggis: we could stay where we are if we got sth hampstaed, but yes if we got habs we would move (too much of a commute for her) Ok once she could catch bus but before then would need to be closer

mumofthreegoingmad · 31/01/2016 23:12

are jags results out yet for 4plus?

tiredoffour4plus · 31/01/2016 23:34

mumofthreegoingmad . yes, jags 4+ letters were posted on friday 29th jan. We got our 'waitlist/a.k.a rejection in Saturday's post :( Not sure if the successful people perhaps got an email on the friday..? but results are definitely out.

ridinghighinapril · 01/02/2016 09:14

There is a definite wait list for 4plus at JAGS - it's not just a euphemism (letters are also sent out without the reassurance of a wait list so there is a distinction). I know of girls who have got in this way in previous years, as pupils do get offers from more than one school. You could always call ask what position you are on the wait list but they may not divulge that information.
Good luck!

mumofthreegoingmad · 01/02/2016 10:12

Thanks all.

meonlyme · 01/02/2016 10:38

Lolakath yes she did :) relief! Anyone heard from HABS/NLCS/SHHS yet?

Hyagreeva · 01/02/2016 10:46

Thought that habs and NLCS was by post today which parents would receive tomorrow? Do they also phone if it's good news?

meonlyme · 01/02/2016 10:55

HyagreevA I was wondering as well if they email today if positive, as most other schools do?

cuttey · 01/02/2016 11:09

Meonlyme - according to my friend's experience, very likely that nlcs would also email tomorrow morning, regardless of the outcome. So we may get an email from nlcs before other schools' letters arrive by post.

Btw, one of my friends said they secured a place at jags 4+ andhave therefore postponed their 4+ applications with north London schools to 7+. That was before the New Year. But apparently jags only sent the results out on Friday? I'm confused. Will find out.

dollyphillips · 01/02/2016 12:12

Just posted this on wrong thread!!

We have heard from St Christopher's already about waiting list place when we weren't expecting any news until tomorrow.

So is it all by post tomorrow or might we get an email today? Confused about whether NLCS do this or not!? I just want to know!!!

Dip123 · 01/02/2016 12:33

Dollyphillips- did you get a letter from St Christopher's or an email? I agree...the waiting is agony!

dollyphillips · 01/02/2016 12:44

Dip123 - letter on sat. 10 girls on wait list and they are expecting movement.

Somebody mentioned email notification for NLCS and am SO hoping for that today. Worse than waiting for uni results!!

t1n333 · 01/02/2016 12:48

Anyone heard from St Helens?

Haggismcbaggis · 01/02/2016 12:51

Highgate will be letters only - sent today Confused

cuttey · 01/02/2016 15:12

dollyphillips - i think if there are emails from nlcs it will be tomorrow. but i heard that they will send the letters to the current nursery so the nursery might have received the results...

dollyphillips · 01/02/2016 15:32

Thanks Cuttey. This is like a form of torture!

Mask235 · 01/02/2016 15:37

Don't think they will inform nurseries before the parents. All this waiting is painful!

t1n333 · 01/02/2016 15:38

Also waiting!

dollyphillips · 01/02/2016 15:57

I was thinking the same Mask235 but you just never know with these processes so at the same time, it wouldn't surprise me!

Fingers crossed for all tomorrow.

Dip123 · 01/02/2016 18:19

Dollyphillips- we also got a WL letter from St Christopher's but did not specify how many were on the list. You mentioned 10. Just wondering whether your letter stated that?

meonlyme · 01/02/2016 19:39

Thank everyone. Haven't heard from any of the three today so fingers crossed for tomorrow. This wait is horrid!

meonlyme · 01/02/2016 19:40

Mumteacher, have any of your students heard from HABS/NLCS or SHHS?
